The Moon Express is a company that aims to bring people from the Earth to the Moon in, literally, an out-of-this-world holiday destination. As early as now, they are offering tickets to the moon for more than $150,000,000, and the trip is scheduled by 2026. A lot of people are skeptical about the idea. Is there a possibility to this venture?

The company was founded by entrepreneur Naveen Jain in 2010, and he and his team have been working so hard to get all these ambition into reality. Interestingly, according to a report from Mirror UK, the Moon Express has been granted permission by the U.S. law to leave the Earth and land on the moon. It is the only private company with such great access.

According to a report from ZME Science, with permission granted by the U.S. Federal Aviation Administration, the company is set to launch its first unmanned mission by 2017. They not only target to bring people to the moon but also explore the idea of possible mining ores from the Moon's surface. The target for this unmanned mission is to survey possible spots for mining.

According to a report from IFL Science, the Moon Express has gained competition, as the company Space Adventures hopes to bring people to the moon by 2017 -- a shorter timeline than that of the Moon Express.

Based on the report, the trip will start by being launched from the Soyuz rocket from Russia and will drop by the International Space Station before officially making it to the moon. A total of 17 days in orbit, they are expecting to bring the spacecraft within 100 kilometers from the surface of the moon and not exactly land on it.

Both companies believe in the possibility of interplanetary habitation and bringing people to the moon is the first step. This is a concept many scientists believe will be the last option in the event that global warming takes its toll on Earth.
