SexCereal gives "breakfast in bed" a new meaning with its specially-tailored ingredients designed to increase men's and women's libido.

Nutritionally speaking, the granola, which comes gender-specific blends, comes in at around 200 calories and just 5 grams of sugar per serving. As for its ability to arouse, nutritionist Carolyn Brown reports on WebMD that there may be some validity to the claim.

"Many of the ingredients do have some evidence, though not conclusive, of supporting sexual function or libido, like cacao nibs," she said.

Cacao is raw chocolate and known to contain heart-healthy antioxidants as well as phenylalanine, a precursor to the brain's reward chemical dopamine.

Ginger, which is also found in the "Her" blend, has long been used to help people feel "friskier." And the maca in both mixes is a Peruvian herb used by the Incans of old to deliver energy and sex enhancement.

In fact, according to Georgetown University Medical Center Dr. Adriane Fugh-Berman, "Maca might have a positive effect on sexual dysfunction," though she admits, "there are so many psychological and social aspects when measuring sexual healing that it is hard to be conclusive."

Bee pollen, which is used in the blend for men, may benefit men suffering from chronic prostatitis, based on several preliminary studies.

Other ingredients in the blend for women include cranberries, sunflower, chia seeds, almonds, flax seeds, oat bran, ginger and oats. And as for the men, other ingredients include black sesame, wheat germ, camu camu, pumpkin seeds, chia seeds, goji berries and oats.

And ultimately, whether or not SexCereal improves a person's sex life or not, both granolas pack in needed nutrients, including fiber, iron and omega-3 and omega-6. And, as Brown points out, "men and women who have healthier diets have both better reproductive health and better sex drive."
