In a few days, the UK is expected to receive its first snowfall of the season, but it won't be brought on by the Beast from the East. Instead, the Troll from Trondheim is slated to turn sizable portions of northern Britain white the following week.
Jim Dale of British Weather Services, who claims to have coined the term "Beast from the East" 25 years ago, made that forecast.
Snowfall to 'carpet' much of Britain next week

In an interview with the Daily Express, Mr. Dale said, "You can feel now that it's starting to get a little colder, but it is just ordinary," as per Daily Star.
Calling that no man's land and they will be in that for the next five or six days.
North of Norway, pressure is beginning to drop in Scandinavia, and as it does so, it elongates and moves toward us, bringing with it clouds and precipitation that will undoubtedly be snow. This will be tasted for the first time in Scotland.
Mr. Dale continued, "I believe what's happening is the low pressure zone is coming south and through the North Sea. We'll see where it goes and whether it affects the Midlands and south, which right now it probably will.
The global meteorologist continued, "It will be the beginning of scraping the ice off the car."
We will be in a very good position for Christmas because it will move from the fridge to the freezer and be turned up a notch.
Although it is still a while off, it does help to set the stage. Big snow showers will be sparked by the arctic air from Scandinavia.
According to Mr. Dale, the Beast from the East will remain in its cage for the time being. "We might even get a beast behind the troll. We could get an easterly from the troll's backside, but that is too far away to be certain," he said.
Mr. Dale is "90% sure" that temperatures will drop in the upcoming week, not just in this country but also in Belgium and Central Europe, barring a "Pest from the West" that brings a warmer front of weather.
According to weather maps, snow is expected to start falling in Scotland and Newcastle early on December 10 before spreading throughout eastern England, the Midlands, and London starting at noon on December 11.

Arctic chill freezing much of British Columbia
The most recent weather system is currently sweeping across coastal British Columbia, meaning that residents will have to endure another day of subzero temperatures and winter conditions, as per CBC.
Eastern and inland Vancouver Island have received snowfall warnings, with up to 15 centimeters of snow expected to fall before the storm passes Saturday.
a system of high pressure over the B.C. Arctic outflow warnings have been issued for the Fraser Valley, Whistler, and the north and central coasts as the interior continues to push icy air out to the coast, with wind chill values potentially feeling as cold as -20 C.
Greater Victoria and Howe Sound are under wind warnings as gusts of up to 90 km/h are anticipated.
The Fraser Valley, Howe Sound, Sunshine Coast, southern Gulf Islands, and Metro Vancouver are all covered by special weather statements.
Environment Canada forecasts "significantly less" impact than Tuesday night's storm, which disrupted commuters in some areas of Metro Vancouver.
A dusting of snow, no more than five centimeters, is anticipated in those areas, which could pose difficulties for the afternoon commute.
Residents of Peace River in northeastern British Columbia were still shivering despite an extreme cold warning that also included most of Alberta and Yoho and Kootenay parks, but the weather office said wind chill values of -40 C early in the day were expected to decrease to about -27 C by Saturday.
Since the storm on Tuesday cut off a crucial communication line, thousands of residents of Gabriola Island, which is east of Nanaimo, have been without a full phone, internet, or television service. Additionally impacted is 911 access.
