Researchers developed a technology to advance the prevention and treatment of pancreatic cancer.

The study noted that only 1 in 9 people survive five years after having a pancreatic cancer diagnosis, and it is difficult to detect early. Records show that pancreatic cancer ranks third as the leading cause of cancer deaths in the United States.

The National Cancer Institute explained that pancreatic cancer is a disease in which cancer cells form in the tissue of the pancreas.

The Cancer Institute also provides on their website the risk factors of pancreatic cancer:

  • Overweight is one factor, with a personal history of diabetes or chronic pancreatitis
  • Smoking
  • Personal history of pancreatic cancer
  • Hereditary conditions

Cancer studies for the past 30 years have contributed to early detection and treatment; as a result, it has helped to reduce the death rate of cancer by more than 30 %.

The Harvard Medical School showed that pancreatic cancer also emerges when the body's abnormal cells are uncontrolled, and it often occurs in the part of the pancreas producing digestive fluids.

However, experts said pancreatic cancer is different because it is difficult to diagnose and may resist cancer treatment, according to report

According to the Phys Org website, UCLA researchers took the call to research solutions for pancreatic cancer. It says they have developed a technology to provide a combination therapy for pancreatic tumors.

The research added that irinotecan is a chemotherapy drug used for pancreatic cancer. At the same time, 3M-052 is said to be a drug that can boost immune activity and fight the resistance of tumors. On the other hand, nanocarriers are composed of lipid molecules.

According to the research, they found the following:

  • A double-loaded nanocarrier is said to be more effective in shrinking tumors and helps prevent cancer metastasis in mice.
  • No evidence to show the harmful side effects, and it maintained drug levels in the They performed combination therapy that attracted cancer-killing immune cells to tumor areas.
  • Irinotecan sends a danger to the immune system.

The report said the combination therapies for cancers are already being explored; however, packaging drugs in the same nanocarrier is difficult. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) reported approving only one dual delivery nanocarrier for chemotherapy.

The researchers will conduct preclinical experiments in large-animal models to test their treatment.

Taking care of your pancreas

Pancreatic cancer is seen as difficult to detect in the early stage. It is essential to stay healthy and active lifestyle. Avoid smoking and alcohol drinking, for a healthier lifestyle.

A healthy diet for a pancreatic patient can help you recover. According to the Hopkins Medicines, you can follow these nutrition diets:

  • Stay hydrated
  • Monitor your weight
  • Eat high protein foods (eggs, soy products, beans, protein bars)
  • Liquid supplements
  • Eat essential wholegrain foods
  • Limit sweets with added sugar

Most importantly, seek your doctor for the best diet or nutritional plan. Being healthy is the key to a longer and happy life.
