Electric car driving across the United States is now 100% possible thanks to Electrify America. It seems it was only recently that Electrify America entered the picture, and it has always been highly appreciated, especially for electric car drivers of non-Tesla vehicles.

It eases the trips for non-Tesla drivers because the Electrify America network is now expanding. While Tesla users have their Supercharging network, Electrify America caters to other electric car users.

Cars like the BMW i3 REx has made trips possible for those going to and from places such as Florida and North Carolina. This particular car has an approximate 70 electric mile range, without having to rely much on its gasoline range extender, all because of the expanding range of Electrify America.

Now, Electrify America has just finished the first route that reaches a cross-country scope. This month, it completed the route between Washington, DC and Southern California. The second planned cross-country route will be finished soon, along with the road going to the southern U.S. and going to Southern California.

It seems that a full network will be a reality soon. The next routes could encompass to and from New York and Florida; Florida and Chicago; California and North Carolina; and even more destinations. The entire network is slowly but surely being filled.

It was only some years ago that the idea of Tesla's Supercharging network was inconceivable. Afterward, it was thought to be incomparable and cannot be duplicated in the immediate future. But now, with Electrify America, it seems that a network with superfast and high-powered electric charging stations with many stops is not only feasible but is fast becoming a reality.

There are, of course, notable and significant differences between these two networks. But of course, it is to be expected that such a new system will need a lot of improvements, as no system could immediately be perfect at the first launch.

What non-Tesla electric vehicle owners can expect is that they can make more road trips now than ever before. Longer trips are now secure, convenient, and feasible. This is definitely good not only for the drivers but also for the environment and the country.

According to Electrify America, its network is continuously expanding at a fast pace, and they are opening two or more EV charging stations for each business day. It also states that the completion of the second South cross-country route is near.

Electrify America planned the cross-country stations to be located in such a way that they are close enough to each other so that modern EVs can reach one to the other without running out of charge. They determined the optimum distance between stations to be an average of 70 miles.

Electrify America also used routes that are more commonly traveled in. Stations that each provide up to 350 kW are situated along Interstates 70 and 15. The stations are placed in metropolitan areas near routes of highways. They are also conveniently located near dining and shopping amenities.

You can find Electrify America stations here. It has 441 stations with around 300 near the major highways, more than 1,900 DC fast chargers, and more than 100 more sites being developed.
