A powerful snowstorm hit the Northeastern US and Southern New England in 2011, or days before Halloween. The trick-or-treat was disrupted due to massive snow, freezing conditions and power outages.

The 2011 massive snowstorm is also known as Snowtober due to the early and rounds of snow. Americans looking forward to Halloween witnessed a White Halloween, disrupting the daily walks for trick-or-treats.

According to a recent report, the snowstorm struck Northeast, Eastern US and Southern New England. Meteorologists explained that it was very unusual for the snow to unload at October's end. It caught millions of Americans unprepared.

The snowstorm became more apparent on October 29, 2011, just days before Halloween. The northeastern US suffered from the heaviest snow conditions with strong winds.

The heavy blow of snow damaged powerlines and trees, causing widespread power outages. People were in the dark amidst the freezing conditions. About 3 million people suffered from power outages.

The repairs of damaged powerlines took about a week.

In addition, the travel conditions became more dangerous due to poor road visibility. The roads became unsafe for motorists.

Portions of New York City, Boston and Baltimore recorded heavy snow, including in Central Park, with about 1,000 downed trees.

Dubbed Halloween Northeaster, it also impacted portions of Bangor, Portland, Harrisburg, Utica, Peru, Scranton, and Hagerstown.
