Many areas in Greece have been placed under weather warnings due to the onslaught of Storm Daniel.
Meteorologists said that Daniel would continue to bring potentially historical rainfall amounts in the country this week.
They said that torrential rainfall is forecasted to hit the southeast corner of the Mediterranean Sea through the last few days of this week as Daniel is seen to circulate through the west of Greece.
Experts said that as Daniel is seen to pass through the warm waters of the Mediterranean Sea, it is possible that it could transform into a "medicane," a combination of "Mediterranean" and "hurricane."
Although it is not considered as an official terminology, medicanes have been recorded having the intensity of Category 1 hurricanes on the Saffir-Simpson Wind Scale for Hurricanes, packing maximum sustained winds upwards of 74 mph (119 km/h).
Forecasters noted that these strong storms have become common in the past.
The storm in Greece came after the country suffered from wildfires in the previous weeks.

Effects, forecasts in the next days
Due to the disastrous effects of the bad weather, authorities reported that at least one person died after a wall had collapsed in the village of Agios Georgios, near the city of Volos.
Furthermore, there was reportedly another man had gone missing after he was supposedly swept away with his car on the outskirts of Volos.
Meteoalarm said that the red warning has been raised in Thessalia due to the heavy rains being experienced in the region.
Amid the red warnings issued by the Hellenic National Meteorological Service, the government of Greece has warned of "particularly intense" weather with heavy rains and storms across the region.
As stated in the government's three-tier warning system, red warnings are considered as the highest category of warning that can be issued for the country.
This warning is specifically used for dangerous and severe weather phenomena.
According to senior meteorologist Jason Nicholls, torrential rains will continue in the country up to Thursday, Sept. 7, due to the Omega block that is keeping Daniel nearby for a couple of additional days.
Dubbed for its resemblance to the Greek letter Ω, weather experts explained that an Omega block occurs when two low-pressure systems become cut off from the main flow of the jet stream, which sandwiches a high-pressure system between them.
They said that blocking patterns in the upper levels of the atmosphere can lead to some interesting weather on the ground.
Weather explained said that a waterspout swirled off the coast of Mantoúdi, a village that is located in the Euboea region of east-central Greece.
They said this was also a a result of the energy that came from Storm Daniel.
They warned that additional waterspouts could occur along the coastlines in the upcoming days, particularly in areas situated along the southern coasts.
Meanwhile, authorities also directed traffic prohibitions in areas that are considered as the "hardest hit" locations of Volos, Pelion, and the island of Skiathos.
These are all located in eastern central Greece.
Officials said that more traffic bans could be issued given the additional rainfall expected across the country.
Turkey, Bulgaria
Meanwhile, the Istanbul, Turkey also experienced massive floods, which killed two individuals.
A dozen others were also rescued after being stranded inside a library.
Meanwhile, some subway stations were also shut down and authorities also urged motorcyclists to stay in their residences for their safety.
On the other hand, Prime Minister Nikolai Denkov of Bulgaria disclosed that two individuals died and three others were missing after a storm brought inundation in the country's southern Black Sea coast.
Rivers also overflowed prompting damage to roads and bridges.
The area also suffered power blackouts.
