Panama Canal. A recent report showed that El Nino could likely worsen the drought conditions in the Panama Canal's Water, which could likely impact the global trade route.

The El Nino phenomenon could worsen the drought conditions in Panama Canal waters, affecting the global trade route.

Recently, Reuters reported that the El Nino phenomenon was underway, based on the report of the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA).

El Nino could have a significant impact on the weather and climate. The report explained that El Nino could help warm waters in the Eastern Pacific.

Furthermore, El Nino could have unleashed severe weather events. In the United States, the report added that El Nino could unfold drier conditions in the Western US and Canada, while South US could experience a wetter outlook.

El Nino likely to worsen drought conditions in Panama Canal Waters

In the latest report, CNN explained that Panama Canal waters suffer from drought conditions that El Nino could likely worsen.

The report added that the global trade route could become affected due to the unprecedented drought in the Panama Canal.

According to the Panama Tourism website, the Panama Canal is considered a popular place for Panama tourists.

The report noted that the Panama Canal had recorded 900,000 vessels, becoming a significant area for global trade routes.

Furthermore, CNN explained that the Panama Canal uses a lock system that helps to move the vessels or the ships on the canal.

The shortage of water conditions and possible historic lows in the Panama Canal could be attributed to the drought conditions.

Meanwhile, the report noted that the Panama Canal showed significant areas for shipping areas in the Atlantic and Pacific oceans, transporting commodities.

Drought conditions in Central America

Recently, Reuters reported that drought conditions were also reported in Honduras. The hydroelectric dams are also affected.

As a result, authorities reported that it would ration electricity, as some parts of the country suffer from blackouts.

Meanwhile, The Washington Post reported that parts of Central America are at risk of the heat or soaring temperatures.

The research was based on the findings of the University of Bristol, which explained that unprecedented heat could put at risk countries with increasing populations, poor healthcare systems and energy resources.

The report said that the risk areas are Central America, Afghanistan and Papua New Guinea-the study was published in the Nature Communications journal.

In Central America, the drought conditions have impacted crops, farms and food security.

Underwater heatwaves

Meanwhile, a previous AccuWeather report showed that marine heatwaves could worsen due to the El Nino phenomenon.

Based on the NOAA's report, the article explained that the marine heatwaves could unfold in South America, Southwestern Pacific, the Indian Oceans and North-Central Pacific.

Furthermore, the report noted that the warmer water conditions could help unleash severe thunderstorms in the South US.

Marine heatwaves could significantly impact the marine environment, including aquatic animals and their habitats.
