In both cases, call for emergency medical assistance immediately. While waiting for medical help, have the person rest comfortably and loosen any tight clothing. 

First Aid For Choking

If someone is choking, they may be unable to talk or breathe. Ask the person if they are choking; if they cannot respond, assume they are. Stand behind the person and deliver 5 sharp back blows until the object is dislodged. If the person becomes unconscious, perform CPR.

First Aid For Drowning

If someone has drowned, call for emergency medical assistance. Check for breathing and start CPR. If the person has water in their lungs or stomach, they may vomit or cough. Turn them on their side to prevent choking.

First Aid For Seizures

If someone has a seizure, move any nearby objects that could cause injury. Do not restrain the person or put anything in their mouth. Time the seizure and call for medical assistance if it lasts longer than 5 minutes or if the person does not regain consciousness. After the seizure, the person may be confused or disoriented.
