California Weather Forecast: Heavy Snow That’s Now Above Historical Average Expected to Continue This Week

Californians experienced heavy snow and record-setting snowpack after winter storms unloaded.

This week, the latest weather forecasts said heavy snow would continue.

The early beginning of March became troublesome for Californians after winter storms dumped massive snow in the region, causing many Californian residents to become stranded at their homes.

According to the New York Times, rescue operations and clearing efforts were ongoing, especially in San Bernardino Mountains.

In the latest weather forecast, another round of heavy snow is expected to dump in parts of California.

AccuWeather reported that heavy snow is forecasted in midweek in Northern California, Sierra Nevada and Northern Sacramento Valley.

Until Wednesday, the forecast explained that snow could cause road closures and possible avalanches in Reno, San Francisco and Fresno.

Residents in the affected areas should resupply for possible winter storms and heavy snow this week.

Furthermore, slower commutes and travel disruptions could unfold due to the snowy conditions.

There is also a possibility of power outages due to freezing temperatures.

On the other hand, CNN reported that the snowpack in parts of California helped improve the drought conditions.

Based on the report from US Drought Monitor, there is about 49% of California state in drought conditions, showing a significant improvement due to heavy rain in January and massive snow in February.

According to CNN, survey manager Sean de Guzman from Department of Water Resources explained that the current snowpack could rival the 1982 to 1983 snowpack record.
