Freezing Weather to Continue in UK Until Next Week; High Air Pollution Alert Issued in London Due to Foggy Conditions

Brits have braced for freezing temperatures, heavy snow, flooding downpours and foggy conditions this week.

According to the latest weather forecast, the freezing weather is expected to persist until next week.

The freezing and foggy conditions have been challenging for many people in the United Kingdom. Temperatures drop at night, which could result in cold-related health concerns.

Recently, BBC News reported that flight travel delays and cancellations occurred due to the foggy conditions, making it more difficult for the aircraft to land and depart.

Since the beginning of January, freezing conditions and flood warnings have been unleashed in the U.K., affecting daily commutes.

Freezing and colder weather

In the latest weather update, The Guardian explained that temperatures in southern England are expected to become colder.

Temperatures are said to become more challenging at night.

As a result, the UK Health Security Agency (UKHSA) advised Brits to stay and keep warm due to the freezing conditions in the country.

The report said that level 3 cold alerts have been in effect in the UK until Friday. The cold weather would put at risk people who could be vulnerable to prolonged freezing temperatures.

According to the Met Office's weather UK advisory, the weather agency said that southeast would expect less cold.

In addition, the forecast explained that breezy conditions would unload in the eastern and southern parts of the country.

On the other hand, The Met Office said that the weather would become rainy from Friday until Sunday.

The weather forecast said southeast parts of the UK and western Scotland could expect rain.

Brits and commuters should keep an umbrella ready, as rounds of rain could be a problem anytime from Friday to Saturday.

On the other hand, BBC reported that London issued high air pollution alerts due to the blanket of fog in the city.

According to the BBC, Mayor Sadiq Khan of London advised people to avoid unnecessary travel this week.

The country's persistent cold and freezing conditions have helped unleash foggy conditions this week.

US and Canada's weather

Furthermore, portions of the United States have experienced severe weather this week. According to AccuWeather, the country in the South, especially Houston and Texas, suffered from tornado outbreaks.

The report added that the storm unloaded a tornado from Texas to Louisiana, causing significant damage to properties and communities there.

Furthermore, Americans have also braced for heavy snow in the Northeast and Midwest. Freezing conditions and hazardous travel outlooks are forecast in the affected places.
