Every year, one of the primary themes at Augusta National Golf Club is the impact of the weather, with an emphasis on the week's forecast in Augusta, Georgia.

Heavy rain and wind marred Tuesday's practice round, and bad weather continued to be an issue Wednesday, with the Par 3 Contest postponed and practice terminated shortly before noon ET.

COVID-19 regulations eliminated the customary Par 3 Contest before the 2020 and 2021 Masters Tournaments.

Mother Nature had a go at it on Wednesday.

Augusta National began shutting the course around 11:20 a.m., as thunderstorms approached the region around noon.

At 10:55 a.m. ET on Tuesday, the practice round was called off. "Due to severe weather and safety concerns," ET has been canceled.

Friday and Saturday will be cold and windy, with wind gusts reaching 20-25 mph if current forecasts hold true, as per CBS Sports.

Due to severe weather and safety concerns, the time has been changed to 2:00 p.m. ET, as per Golfweek.

The Par 3 Contest was supposed to start at noon and last into the afternoon, but the weather prediction is calling for rain and thunderstorms.

Patrons and contestants alike look forward to the competition.

After a 77-minute interruption during Saturday's third round last year due to severe weather, paying attention to the forecast seemed especially important.

Hideki Matsuyama, the eventual champion, was one-under for the day and two strokes behind the leader on the 11th hole when play was suspended.

After the bad weather passed and play started, Matsuyama finished his round with a bogey-free 65, playing the final eight holes at 6 under par.

Weather forecast for the week

This morning, the National Weather Service issued a severe weather outlook for the Central Savannah River region, which includes Richmond, Columbia, and Aiken counties.

Showers and thunderstorms are expected to arrive from the west by early afternoon and stay into the evening, according to the weather service, with the potential for severe weather, destructive gusts, isolated tornadoes, and heavy rainfall.

The Columbia County Performing Arts Center will host the Dough concert, as per The Augusta Chronicle.

Organizers claim that the center isn't large enough to accommodate all ticket buyers.

Both VIP, suite, & pits pass ticket holders, as well as "comp" tickets, will-call, and general admission tickets sold on the first week of sales will be admitted.
