Hail, thunderstorms, and tornadoes are likely to occur in the western and central US in the next few days due to a new weather system, which may also bring torrential rain and snowfall.
Ths US weather authorities have issued several weather warnings in multiple areas.
New Weather System
The National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) - National Weather Service (NWS) has issued weather warnings for the Western US and Central US-due to the potentially life-threatening and travel hazards, such as thunderstorms, tornadoes, and hail posed by a new weather system.
Characterized as a "dynamic storm system," meteorologists from the NOAA - NWS said the warnings will apply from Sunday to Tuesday, March 6 to March 8.
The storm may also cause flooding due to torrential rain, as well as freezing rain and heavy snow.
Travel disruption affecting road traffic movement, US domestic and international flights, train operations, and ferry services are likely to be affected in said regions in the next 72 hours.
The NOAA - NWS weather warnings may also change gradually or completely during this period.

Cross-Country Impact
The impact of the storm system will be at a cross-country level.
The NOAA - NWS said that the mentioned weather hazards will be from the Intermountain West to the Upper Great Lakes. Some areas of the Midwest, northern Great Plains, and parts of upper Great Lakes regions already felt the impact.
Additionally, the US weather agency stated the said regions experienced winter weather on Saturday afternoon, March 5.
It also issued winter weather advisories for several states, including Colorado, Michigan, Nebraska, South Dakota, and Wyoming, as per CBS News.
The US meteorologists also warned residents in the affected areas of the dangers of slippery roads and reduced outdoor visibility due to snowfall.
Furthermore, the accumulation of ice can also cause power outages and tree damage.
Hail, Thunderstorms, and Tornadoes
Multiple weather hazards such as hail, thunderstorms, tornadoes, are also likely as the storm system ravages through the Central US, says the US weather agency, as cited by CBS News.
Tornado watches have been issued in some areas in Iowa, Missouri, and Oklahoma.
On Saturday afternoon, the NOAA - NWS reported several tornadoes formed in Iowa and Nebraska but there were no immediate reports of casualties.
In addition, the US weather authorities issued a tornado warning in the Mercer County of Missouri state.
As for safety precautions, residents were advised by the weather authorities to hide in their basement or a low-level room next to the ground to lessen and avoid the impact of flying debris from the strong winds caused by thunderstorms and tornadoes.
Tornado Disaster Preparedness
According to the National Disaster Education Coalition (NDEC), tornadoes occur in every state of the US throughout the year and are most likely to occur between 03:00 PM and 09:00 PM, especially during the spring and summer seasons.
The NDEC stated several disaster preparedness measures during a tornado, including the thorough monitoring of weather news, hiding inside the lower grounds of an establishment, and staying away from windows.
Eastern US
In contrast to the weather conditions in the Central US and the Western US, the new weather system will bring warm temperatures in the Eastern US on Sunday and Monday, according to the weather authorities.
The most affected areas will be New Jersey, Pennsylvania, and Northern Virginia.
