Bar-Coded Trash Bags: The Newest Solution to Proper Garbage Disposal

A new solution for proper garbage disposal is now being implemented in Poland, but not for everywhere.

Aleksander Brzózka, spokesman for the Ministry of Climate and Environment, had in an interview with Business Insider Polska. The official reveals that the introduction of using bar codes to track which places or areas fail to segregate garbages could be a possible thing. 

Brzózka said that municipalities in Poland were already spoken to, regarding the possibility of labeling the waste bags. In fact, it could be done already; however, they're not oblige to follow this rule. 

"This will not be an obligatory solution," he stresses. "We will not impose this method on municipalities, but we will give them such a possibility. If the municipality considers this solution effective, it will be able to decide to label the waste bags," he explains.

Waste law

The proposal of labeling trash bags is no longer a new thing. There are already tons of draft amendments in Waste Law, that leads to this solution. 

Though there was still no recommendations to put bar codes, individual markings of bags are being considered.

As explained, once implemented, this rule will allow municipalities to track which areas failed to segregate their garbage-- that could lead to penalities.
