Moving During a Pandemic

Did you buy a new house and are you going to move any time soon? Then keep in mind that moving is a little bit different due to the pandemic. In addition to making sure that all your furniture and personal belongings make it to your new home safely, you also need to keep in mind that this has to be done in a corona proof way - especially since there are often many people helping and touching the same goods. Are you going to move any time soon? Then make sure to read this article on how to do this in a safe and secure way.

Plan carefully

Corona proof moving requires a tight schedule. After all, you want as few people as possible at one location at the same time. It needs to go smoothly and quickly to minimize the risks of infection. Make sure to avoid last-minute packing and rent a big truck or small van (Dutch: bestelbus huren) in time! Do you want to rent one without a credit card (Dutch: auto huren zonder creditcard), then make sure to check in advance which companies don't require a credit card.

Are you looking for places where you can rent a moving van at one location and bring it back to a different location? Then you may need to look at companies like Diks Autoverhuur. At Diks you can rent a car at their location in Amsterdam and you can bring it back in Almere. Handy if you don't want to drive all the way back to Amsterdam while your new house is in Almere. From renting a big truck and small van for moving to renting a car for winter sports (Dutch: auto huren wintersport), with Diks you can always hit the road safely!

Not too much people

It's best to not be surrounded by too many people. So make sure that you're not with too many people at one location. You can, for example, work in groups of 3 people. One group of 3 will be loading at the old address and one group of 3 will be unloading at the new address. One person can drive the van!

Bring enough protective equipment

If you want to move in a corona proof way, you definitely need to have enough protective equipment. Make sure that you have a pair of gloves, some facemasks and a bottle of sanitizer for every mover. This minimizes the risk of becoming infected. Also remind people that they need to change the mask every two hours and that they need to keep 1,5 meter distance at all times.

Lunch

You may normally want to treat all movers to a nice lunch. However, in times of corona this may not be a good idea. While making their lunch you may accidentally touch their food and spread the virus. Or if you make a little buffet they might touch the same products or cutlery. To minimise the risk, ask everyone to bring their own lunch. You can always treat them later!

Hopefully these tips will help you and your movers to stay safe and secure while moving to your new home.
