Dog With Human Face up for Adoption in Indiana

A dog with an eerily manlike face has become an Internet sensation overnight. 'Tonik', a poodle-shih tzu mix, is up for adoption in Indiana after it was rescued by an animal welfare group.

The dog, found in a kill shelter in Kentucky, went viral after it was picked by the website Gawker. Tonik the dog, which bears remarkable similarities to a human face, was rescued by Homeward Bound, a northern Indiana animal welfare group that is helping him find life in a new home.

According to Jen Schwartz, the founder and owner of the Homeward Bound Animal shelter, Tonik who has been with them since 2011, has been put up on the adoption site since then. And after looking at his photos, someone said that he looks like a human and "since then it has been overwhelming," reports The Star.

After being reported by the media, the welfare group received more than 350 applications from people who want to adopt the 2-year-old dog. Some call him cute and some claim Tonik to be their lost pet.

"He has not had too much socialization. He is great with other dogs. He is not dangerous, but should not be placed with young children because he will get too overwhelmed. He will need a home with lots of patience & good energy," reports Petfinder.

But Schwartz feels that Tonik would be a mismatch for families with children, as he is not the kind of dog to play a lot, reports Huffington Post.

For those who are interested in adopting the 11-pound dog, the adoption fee would cost you about $250.
