Massive Storm Seen To Drench New York City On Thanksgiving

Weather experts warned that a massive storm is seen to drench the Thanksgiving celebration of New York City residents.

This weather system could come before Thanksgiving Day, which could disrupt travel and vacation plans of residents and tourists who are planning to visit the area.

Still, meteorologists said there is still a chance for a brighter forecast on the day of Thanksgiving.

Furthermore, the expected weather during the parade day will be sunny with partly cloudy conditions.

A Bit Chillier Thanksgiving

Authorities said that the weather for the 2023 Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade would be almost the same such as that of last year's conditions when temperatures were in the 40s F at the start of the parade.

It then went into the lower 50s F by the afternoon.

However, based on forecast, the weather could feel a bit chillier for this year's event, with the temperature seen to start in the mid-30s in the morning and rising into the mid-40s by the start of the parade.

Furthermore, squally conditions can wreak havoc on the annual parade, particularly the balloons. This condition will not allow the balloons to be safely flown when sustained winds are above 23 mph or when there are frequent gusts that are over 34 mph.

For this year, the forecast is that there could be a bit of a breeze in New York City on Thursday morning, but weather experts noted that the winds should remain below the safety criteria.

On the other hand, a few rain showers may push across coastal Texas while in the West some mountain snow is expected to bring fresh powder to high elevations in the northern Rockies.

Authorities said that 10 million people were at risk for severe storms across an area spanning from east Texas to the lower Mississippi Valley and into western Alabama.

Tornado watches had also covered a large part of Louisiana, but the advisories were later moved mostly to the far southeastern part of the state and Mississippi, according to the National Weather Service.

Moreover, strong surface winds and wind shear have raised the risk of rotation and tornadoes in Alabama on Wednesday evening, weather experts have said.

Meanwhile, a system could develop and approach later in the weekend, and this is seen to disrupt holiday shopping, outdoor activities and travel plans for those individuals who are planning on driving or flying home in the days after the Thanksgiving celebration.

Most Renowned Holiday

Thanksgiving is considered as the most renowned holiday of Americans.

Thanksgiving Day often falls on the fourth Thursday in November. For this year, Thanksgiving will be on November 23.

The celebration also marks the unofficial start of the holiday season, with "Black Friday" shopping kicking off on that very day followed by the celebration of Christmas and New Year's Eve.

The said holiday signifies giving thanks, counting blessings, and spending time with loved ones.

It is expected that airports and highways are abundantly crowded as hosts of travelers make their yearly pilgrimage for turkeys and family celebrations.
