Based on the advisory on September 28, a strong cold front can help bring cooler air in parts of California and Great Basic this coming Friday.

The cooler temperatures can become ideal for Californians with outdoor plans or travel. However, bringing an umbrella for chances of rain is still recommended.

In the Northeast, people can experience excessive heavy rain and possible flooding, while in the Midwest, the forecast warned of scattered thunderstorms.

For the snow potential, the advisory noted that chances of snow can unload in the higher areas in the Central to Southern Sierra.

Low temperatures are also expected on Saturday in parts of San Diego, San Joaquin Valley and Los Angeles.

The cooler outlook is forecast to continue until early next week, especially on Tuesday and Wednesday.

Over the weekend, the cooler weather is possible in the following areas in the Western US:

  • Seattle
  • Spokane
  • Helena
  • Boise
  • Portland
  • Redding
  • Reno
  • Fresno
  • Cedar City
  • Salt Lake City
  • Las Vegas

Possible rain can unload in Redding on Saturday. Early next week, the chilly outlook will be noticeable in the following areas:

Hotter weather outlook: Where will it impact this weekend?

On the other hand, hotter or summer-like temperatures are likely in parts of the Southern to Central Rockies, Lower 48 in the Southwest, Gulf coastal states and Mississippi Valley.

The advisory showed that high temperatures can reach up to 90s on the weekend until early next week. The warm and dry conditions can be troublesome for farmers, causing prolonged drought.

Although the cooler air begins in parts of the US, the heat can still be challenging for older adults and people with medical conditions.

Here are other reminders to keep safe from the heat.

  • Homeowners can possibly limit exposure to prolonged heat.
  • Staying hydrated is also recommended to prevent heat-related health concerns, such as heat exhaustion and heat stress.
  • Furthermore, parents should never leave their children unattended inside hot vehicles, especially when the weather is above average. Homeowners should regularly check their AC system for possible improvements or repairs.
  • Wearing comfortable clothes is advisable to ease the heat until next week.
