As a result of continuing overnight heavy snowfall, parts of Minnesota and Wisconsin are under a Winter Storm Watch, among other weather alerts. Outdoor activities are pushed aside for the next few days and trigger for certain health conditions are at high levels.

Winter Storm Watch

This weather alert will be in effect in Rice Lake, Ladysmith, Chippewa Falls, Menomonie, Durand, and Eau Claire from Sunday evening to Monday morning.

4 to 8 inches of snow are predicted to fall overall, and winds of up to 45 mph are possible.

The morning commute may be impacted in parts of northwest and west central Wisconsin due to slick roads and hazardous conditions.

While this is happening, heavy snowfall of 4 to 7 inches is predicted for portions of southeast Minnesota as well as central, southwest, north central, and west central Wisconsin, with locally higher snow accumulations possible. Gusts of the northwest winds could reach 35 to 45 mph in the area, the National Weather Service reports.

Multiple Flood Warnings

In parts of Minnesota, multiple Flood Warnings that will remain until 4 PM CDT on Monday are in effect, together with three other weather alerts, including the aforementioned winter storm remain in effect watch, a flood advisory that is in effect until Monday 4 PM, and a Gale Watch until Monday 9 PM.

Rivers, streams, creeks, and other low-lying areas are expected to flood or are currently experiencing a flood. According to The Weather Channel, streams are continuing to rise as a result of excessive runoff from previous rainfall in the region.

5-Day Weather Forecast

Wisconsin skies will be cloudy today with a 70% chance of light rain. By tomorrow, high chances of rain and snow mix will drop temperatures to 36 degrees. Monday will see snow showers with chilly temperatures of 38 degrees. Tuesday will be mostly sunny but temperatures are down to 28 degrees. By Wednesday, wet weather is back as freezing rain will start the day, and wane down to rain showers until the evening.

In parts of Minnesota, a 100% chance of precipitation is set for today. Tomorrow snow will fall at an 88% chance, with accumulations of over 3 inches. The skies will be calmer by Monday as cloudy skies are expected with a few flurries or snow showers. Tuesday will be warm with sunny skies, while Wednesday will start cloudy with chances of freezing rains in the morning and rain showers in the afternoon, Wunderground reports.

Health and Weather

AccuWeather's WinterCast shows snow accumulations reaching 10 inches for Medford, Wisconsin today, which brings cold temperatures. This means that arthritis triggers are very high today. Triggers for sinus pressure, common colds, and asthma are at moderate levels.

In Sawyer, Minnesota, snow accumulations will reach 4 inches which also puts arthritis triggers at very high levels. Sinus pressure and common cold triggers are at high levels today, while flu, migraine, and asthma triggers are at moderate levels. The snow will also put plans of fishing, running, golf, biking, cycling, going to beaches or pools, and stargazing on hold, AccuWeather reports.
