When a horrified woman in Queensland, Australia went to change her bedsheets on Monday afternoon, she was horrified to discover a 6-foot-tall, deadly eastern brown snake in her bed.

A deadly eastern brown snake had crept into her bedroom and was curled up in her sheets.

Zachary Richards, the snake catcher, said that the woman decided to close the door, place a towel under it, and make a call for assistance because she didn't want the snake in the room.

Richards is the proud owner of Zachery's Snake and Reptile Relocation, a popular choice for snake-catching needs in Australia.

Eastern Brown Snakes in Australia

More snakebite fatalities occur in Australia as a result of eastern brown snakes than any other species.

They possess the second-most toxic venom in the world, according to the Australian Venom Research Unit at the University of Melbourne.

They suffocate as a result of a neurotoxin in their venom that paralyzes the victim's heart, diaphragm, and lungs.

Southern and eastern Australia are home to eastern brown snakes, thus their name.

Because of the overlap between their natural habitat and many of the most populated areas of the nation, it is not unusual to find them in private residences.

Job for a Snake Catcher

The incident happened in a rural area of Queensland called Maroon, which is close to the Gold Coast.

The snake was still in place when Richards got there.

The snake was just lying in bed taking a nap when the snake catcher opened the door and pulled the rolled towel out from underneath it.

However, the snake slipped down under the bed when Richards woke it up.

Although Richards claimed that the snake did become a little agitated when the snake catcher arrived to move the bed to capture the slithery reptile, the snake was generally calm.

Richards went on to say that it was likely an open door that allowed the snake to enter the house.

He explained that because it was a particularly hot day, the animal probably entered in search of cover.

Richards caught the snake and put it in his bag before releasing it into nearby bushland, which is far from people and things of value.

Checking the Bed

Richards posted about the incident on social media and advised readers to carefully inspect the bed before getting into it.

Readers have left hundreds of comments on the post.

Another user wrote that they might burn the bedding, while one joked that they would never sleep again.

Richards claimed that by placing a towel under the door and making an emergency call, the woman acted appropriately.

The snake catcher warned the public that the best course of action when encountering a snake is to slowly back away, leave the slithery reptile alone, restrict it to a single room, and call for help, Newsweek reported.

Snakes Entering Houses in Australia

Eastern brown snakes can flatten themselves out and gradually squeak under tiny gaps under doors, according to Melbourne snake catcher Mark Pelley.

Additionally, it has been discovered that all snakes in Melbourne can flatten themselves, whereas large, thick pythons found in other regions of Australia are unable to do so, according to Pelley via Yahoo News.
