The latest weather forecasts warned of possible severe weather conditions due to winter storms in the Northern United States and Upper Midwest this week.

Due to ice conditions and heavy snow, the final week of February would become problematic for parts of the Northeast and Upper Midwest.

Motorists and travelers should check the weather for possible road delays and slower commutes.

While parts of the United States began to feel a rebound to warmer temperatures, persistent cold and storms would develop this week.

According to AccuWeather's latest forecast for Feb. 21, weather agencies warned of a dangerous and potent storm this week.

People in the affected areas should stay updated with the weather.

Based on the AccuWeather outlook, the report revealed that some parts of the United States would anticipate a winter mix outlook.

  • Rain with possible thunderstorms is forecast in Houston, Dallas, Memphis and Kansas City.
  • Snow is expected in Billings, Denver and Minneapolis. While warm conditions would unfold in Seattle.
  • The unseasonably warm outlook is forecast in Charlotte, Washington, Jacksonville and Miami.
  • There is a chance of snow in New England, the Rockies, Western Wisconsin, Southern Canada, Minnesota and South Dakota.

The winter storms could unload cooler to challenging cold this week. American Red Cross emphasized the importance of staying warm and safe during winter storms.

Ice conditions and widespread snowfall

On the other hand, the weather forecast said ice conditions would cause freezing rain and significant power outages.

  • Residents could anticipate ice conditions in Des Moines, Chicago, Detroit, Buffalo, Burlington and Boston from Wednesday to Thursday.
  • From Thursday to Friday morning, ice and snow would unleash in Detroit, Scranton, Syracuse, Burlington and Boston.
  • Snoww is forecast in Portland and Montreal.

Meanwhile, severe snow storms are forecast in Salt Lake City, Rapid City, Scottsbluff, Denver, Omaha, Sioux Falls, Minneapolis, Green Bay, Duluth, Fargo and Bismarck from Tuesday to Thursday.

Due to heavy snow, there is a higher chance of snowfall on Wednesday and Friday in parts of Boston, Quebec City, Bangor and Toronto.

On the other hand, the National Weather Service (NWS) explained that the winter storm would unload in midweek.

The NWS advisory added that the prolonged winter storm would also impact parts of the WestCoast.

Furthermore, the forecasts noted a chance of dangerous travel and blizzard conditions this week.

Winter storm safety

Due to impactful winter storms, motorists and residents should prepare for the possible impact of potent storms in the Upper Midwest and Northeast.

Homeowners should ensure that their family members wear layered winter clothes that offer more warmth.

Meanwhile, preparing emergency winter kits or bags would be helpful during emergencies or evacuations when time becomes limited.
