The latest weather forecast said snow and rain would unload in the Northeast and Midwest until next week, causing potentially slower commutes and travel delays.

Motorists should check the weather updates this week before traveling or departing.

The snow could be challenging for motorists due to slippery travel and reduced visibility.

Although the weather went a rapid warmup, the forecast said it would still feel seasonably cold this week.

However, it would not be as extremely cold as last year.

Wintry Weather

According to AccuWeather's latest weather forecast on January 5, residents and motorists in the Northeast and Midwest could notice wintry conditions and an icy mix until Monday.

The first week of January had many travelers returning to work after the Holidays.

They would experience wintry conditions for the first week until next week, a mix of snow and rain.

AccuWeather's outlook (Friday to Monday) showed that the weather could still be seasonably cold in Columbus, Burlington, Detroit, Buffalo, Washington, Portland, Boston and New York.

The weather could become colder at night.

Last year, the blast of cold air brought temperatures to extremes. This month would still expect freezing weather.

Meanwhile, experts still advised wearing layered winter clothes and avoiding prolonged exposure to colder weather.

The common health risks are hypothermia and frostbite.

Meanwhile, the National Weather Service's recent advisory said that the atmospheric rivers in California could expect heavy rain in northern California.

The advisory added that flooding could become a concern, especially in California and Sacramento Valley.

Power outages and downed trees could also occur due to the strong winds.

Snow could occur in Des Moines, Peoria, Chicago, Detroit, Buffalo, Pittsburg, New York, Boston and Portland.

On the weekend, rain showers could persist in Boston, New York and Washington.

Meanwhile, rounds of rain could also appear in Dallas, Houston and Kansas City.
