The National Weather Service's (NWS) latest advisory also added that a potential winter storm from January 1 to 3 could unload in the Upper Midwest and Plains, resulting in icy roads and dangerous travel.

The persistent rain in California also resulted in power outages. Based on the PowerOutage.US, about 35,000 had no power in Nevada and 133,000 in California as of Sunday, January 1.
