Blast of Cold Air to Bring Snow in Mid-December; What to Expect This Winter in the United States

As the winter becomes noticeable with the arrival of Meteorological winter on December 1, 2020, it is expected that the blast of cold air could bring snow in mid-December in portions of the United States. According to forecasts, rain and snow could unload this winter in the country 

The Meteorological winter in the Northern Hemisphere began on December 1, 2022. Meanwhile, the astronomical winter is expected on December 21, 2022. Both winters could bring snow, transforming the weather to colder than usual.

As many Americans looked forward to winter and the coming Christmas Holiday, snow could emerge this mid-December. In addition, houses may need heating systems to alleviate the cold to freezing temperatures.

According to AccuWeather's latest forecast on December 2, 2022, the weather agency explained that the early taste of winter unloaded, with portions of the United States experiencing lake-effect snow in New York and Great Lakes. Plains, Midwest and West Coast recorded accumulation of snow.

 As the first week of December began, it is expected that cold air and snow could emerge in the Eastern U.S. The forecast added that the East Coast could experience more snow.

Those helping to shovel the snow should wear appropriate layered clothes. It is important to take breaks in plowing snow and be hydrated.

Furthermore, the forecast explained that snowfall could unload in New England, Upper Midwest, Mid-Atlantic, and Ohio Valley. The report added that portions of Boston could become snowy this winter in the Northeast.

On the other hand, the coming winter and potential storms could help unload rain helpful with drought-stricken areas in the Western U.S. The beneficial rain could alleviate the drought, affecting agricultural production in the farming lands.

The report added that snow and mountain snow could be expected in portions of California. Meanwhile, the National Weather Service advised that a wintry mix could emerge due to a storm on West Coast.

According to the report, a storm could unload freezing rain and strong winds. The advisory noted that the freezing rain could reach up to 0.25 inches with possible snow. The snow could reach up to two to eight inches, adding concerns of power damage and outages in the said area.

The forecast also added that the West Coast storm could cause slippery conditions and poor visibility on major roads.

Snow could accompany the rain in the affected areas. The forecast warned that the Southern United States could experience more severe weather conditions, which could emerge in February.

On the other hand, the emergence of more snow also means the season for skiing and snowboarding lovers. Those thinking of skiing should anticipate the weather. The forecast said that good ski season could unveil in portions of New England, the Midwest, the Pacific Northwest, and the Rocky Mountains.
