Tropical Storm Elsa has caused lots of damages close to the Georgia-Florida border as it slowly moves over the southeast and continues north, taking the life of at least one person and leaving some with multiple injuries.

Suspected Tornado at Naval Submarine Base Kings Bay 

Elsa's winds brought about the falling of a tree on two cars during an afternoon commute in Jacksonville, Florida, claiming the life of one person, as per. Eric Prosswimmer, a captain with the Jacksonville Fire and Rescue Department. On Wednesday evening a potential tornado took place in the city, as per Jacksonville Mayor Lenny Curry.

There were reports of multiple injuries and destruction in Georgia following an occurrence of a suspected tornado at Naval Submarine Base Kings Bay, around 40 miles north of Jacksonville. According to the base, the potential tornado took place around 5:50 p.m. ET.

Many of the injured victims were conveyed to local hospitals for treatment, the base said. No damage to any sensitive military asset or submarine was recorded, the base reported.

Tornado Watch 

The location of the base in Camden County, confirmed a tornado occurred in a tweet. CNN meteorologist, Taylor Ward said these two tornadoes were poduced in the outer bands on the eastern part of Tropical Storm Elsa, where tornadoes are most usual with landfalling tropical systems.

Northeastern Florida and southwestern Georgia's tornado watch was in place until 8 p.m. Authorities has just issued a new tornado watch for portions of Georgia and South Carolina, with Savannah and Charleston included. This watch is active until 5 a.m. ET as there is a possibility Tropical Storm Elsa could prompt more tornadoes into the overnight hours, Taylor Ward said.

While at least one person's life was lost in the United States, not less than three have already lost their lives in Elsa's path. Three deaths in the Caribbean were connected to the storm.

National Hurricane Center (NHC) said the center of Elsa, with sustained winds of 45 mph, was around 75 miles west of Brunswick, Georgia, preceding to north-northeast around 8 p.m. ET.

Elsa to Weaken to Tropical Depression 

By Thursday, Elsa is to Diminish to tropical depression when it gets to the Carolinas before proceeding towards the mid-Atlantic coast. Elsa "will possibly become a tropical storm again" on Friday as the center propels along or just off the eastern seaboard where it could disturb New York City and Boston on Friday, as per the NHC.

Some dozen miles from landfall, portion of the surface of a roof had been lifted from a building (motel) on Florida's Cedar Key on Wednesday, pictures captured by Jonathan Riches - a motel guest - showed.

"Winds beginning howling mid night, and rain starting pounding the windows," Riches told CNN, adding about the conditions: "Never witnessed anything like this in my life."
