Wow! The holidays are here again and it's time to burn off all the stress you've bottled up right from the beginning of the year. You can definitely make it happen, all you need is a fun-filled trip with mother nature beaming smiles at you. This is also an opportunity you can't afford to miss to give the kids a swell time.

Considering that we only have so much time off from work and that vacations aren't exactly cheap, you shouldn't miss this chance you have with the family as it may take another 365 days to make such happen again. Have you given a thought to a vacation that is packed with fun, calorie-burning activities and is nature-friendly?

Here are five ways of getting the most enjoyable time out of your precious vacation days and going back home without needing a vacation from your vacation.

1. Visit the reefs and show kids the marine life

It's true that coral reefs can be damaged by natural processes, such as storms, but they are increasingly at risk from our daily activities. What you don't need to add to the threat reefs face are oil spills and pollutants. Sewage we discharge from our homes and agricultural fertilizers, promote the growth of algae that can smother corals.

The kids have all the toys and electrical gadgets at home, so nothing could be better than treating them to a serene and quiet atmosphere. The cooling effect from the reefs will greatly impact them and the memory everlasting. Give them a first-hand understanding of what damage our sewage and pollutants can cause to marine life.

It's something they will cherish and talk about with their friends and colleagues. And we may be building global warming ambassadors. Land developments for agriculture, industry, and housing increase sediment transported from land into coastal waters as runoff resulting in the decrease of coral productivity. The sediments make the waters turbid and obstruct light necessary for photosynthesis by algae and other organisms living in corals.

2. Travel with organic materials

Make your vacation more fun by traveling with organic materials that are reusable and not harmful to the environment. Make your vacation more fun by traveling with organic materials that are reusable and not harmful to the environment.

Sean P Fineli, founder of The Tour Guy, a travel and tour company says, " Pack your water, juice, smoothie or any other cold beverage in a reusable container like the S'well bottle while traveling to lessen the use of plastics and it will stay cold for 24 hours. Tea, coffee, hot chocolate, and any other hot refreshment, on the other hand, will maintain their heat for 12 hours."

Single-use plastic bottles can take hundreds of years to decompose, posing a major threat to the environment. And you shouldn't be contributing to this threat. You can even make it more fun by personalizing your swell bottle with your name or initials for an extra special touch.

3. Make it a road trip with the family - RV's are fun!

It has always been a rush. Meeting up with deadlines, dropping the kids off at school, and getting to work early enough. The hustle, the bustle, and cramming.

You probably have one or two weeks out of the 52 weeks in the year for your holidays, enjoy every moment of it. Why do you need to hop from one destination to another on a flight? RVs can be fun.

Take the motorways. Experience nature in its raw form. Stop at your leisure to take photographs with the family. Enjoy the greenness of the trees as you drive along and all the while helping the planet by reducing the quantity of carbon dioxide that is discharged into the atmosphere if you had taken a flight.

Experiment with turning off the air conditioner in the van and reducing global warming. Feel the real fresh air on your face as you drive along, you'll love it.

4. Gaze into the stars at night and turn off the lights

The beauty of the sky can only be seen at night. The twinkling stars and the moon when you have turned out the lights can be breath-taking and awesome. Try to count the stars with the kids and discover the hidden joy in the game.

Allow some quietude, while lying on your back and see how refreshing and rejuvenating it can be as you gaze up at the stars. A nice story can also add to the magic moment of the night.

5. Go hiking

Get on your feet, move about. Jets burn much fuel. Hiking would give the same excitement and not put the air at risk. You have the option of relying on your travel agent, travel guides, maps or a tour bus to get you familiarized with a new scene.

But only by getting out and hiking can you truly get the natural feel for a place. Spend the first few hours at your vacation destination walking around the area. It'll be pure fun and adventurous for you to locate the parks, museums, and shopping areas.
