Is it a bird, a plane or a fiery UFO? Citizens of Lima, Peru have witnessed an astonishing event after an alleged burning UFO was spotted in the Highlands, leaving alien hunters in total frenzy.

The footage of the said burning UFO was first posted on a Peruvian news website called Canaln, Express reports. The video, which lasts for more than a minute, shows an orb leaving a trail of light behind it as it travels in the sky. What's more perplexing is that after the alleged burning UFO passed a lamp post in the street, it turned on.

The Peruvian capital is not foreign to UFO sightings, and many conspiracy theorists claim that the street light turning on in the video signifies an imminent "alien invasion."

"A UFO was recorded over Lima, Peru this week and in the recording we see a street light suddenly light up. Coincidence? Probably not, since hundreds of UFO reports report electrical problems when the UFO was near. This is important evidence that this object was a UFO," UFO blogger Scott C wrote.

While some speculate that the unidentified object was indeed a UFO, a similar object has been reportedly found in the Peruvian Highlands in the Amazon. The similar object was not a UFO, but was, a "Project Loon" balloon, Daily Mail reports.

Project Loon is an internet project by X, formerly Google X, to provide internet access to far-flung ares through the use of polyethylene balloons. The said balloons carry a special equipment thathelps in transmitting in-ground signals, resulting to better internet connectivity in hard-to-reach areas.

There is still no confirmation if the burning orb in Lima, Peru is the same object as the Project Loon balloon found in the Peruvian Highlands.
