TripAdvisor Reveals World's Top 10 Best Islands for Travelers' Choice Awards

TripAdvisor, the world's largest travel website, recently named the world's best islands through the 2016 Travelers' Choice awards for top island destinations. So, how about going on a beach trip for your next adventure?

For this year, the island of Maui in Hawaii claimed the top spot, dethroning Providenciales in the Turks and Caicos. Maui has always been a go-to place for travellers because of the enthralling sights to see and exciting adventures that the island has to offer. It has been considered as the best island by people who love the outdoors and most especially, the sun and sand.

In an interview with CNN, TripAdvisor spokeswoman Julie Cassetina said "in addition to their truly magnificent landscapes, the Travelers' Choice Islands are home to highly rated hotels, restaurants and attractions, and are brimming with unique culture." 

"The ethereal bamboo forest and churning waterfalls in Haleakala National Park can be explored via the Waimoku Falls Trail," the website writes, describing the wonderful sights that people can indulge in when they visit the island.

Aside from exploring the bamboo forest and waterfalls, the website also recommends trying out activities such as surfing, windsurfing or snorkeling and driving the scenic road to Hana along the island's northeastern shore.The travel website describes the island as a destination for those who want to truly connect with nature.

The islands on the list were determined through collecting and analyzing the quantity and quality of reviews and ratings for hotels, restaurants and attractions on islands worldwide over a 12-month period.
