Local Agriculture: Study Says Local-Market Users Seek Community
The number of farmers' markets and food coops has ballooned nationally since 2004. A new University of Iowa study looked at this phenomenon, which was part of the direct-to-consumer sales that grew twice as fast as total agricultural sales between 1992 and 2007, according to the USDA.
