The latest weather forecast warned of flooding risk in the southern US this week due to the heavy precipitation. The rain is expected to ease the drought concerns in the southwestern US.

In the NWS Reno, homeowners should keep updated with the Winter Weather Advisory on Monday. Challenging commutes are likely in the Mono County and Greater Lake Tahoe Area.

The National Weather Service (NWS) monitors the upper-level trough in the Southern Rockies. Snow conditions are expected to spread in the Midwest and Lower Michigan. The lake-effect snow is forecast in the Great Lakes and Central Appalachians.

In addition, a mix of snow and rain is likely in the Four Corners on Monday and early next week. Americans traveling this week should stay alert for the road conditions in the Southern US.

Although the wet weather would ease the drought concerns, the flooding can still become dangerous. Strong winds can likely unfold in portions of Oklahoma City and Minneapolis.

The rain concerns are expected in Houston, Corpus Christi, Little Rock, Shreveport and Abilene. Meanwhile, ice conditions can spread over the following areas:

The colder conditions and freezing outlook could unload from Northeast Texas to Illinois. Homeowners in St. Louis and Oklahoma are at risk of ice conditions and cold-related concerns.
