Texas will feel the warmth and sunshine today, but tomorrow will bring more rain and severe weather.

With the cold front moving through Central Texas, the most recent round of storms has passed.

From Warmth and Sunshine

With highs in the upper 70s and a cooling northerly wind, following an afternoon that was sunny, pleasant, and dry.

With lows in the 50s, Thursday night is expected to be clear and storm-free, allowing Texas locals to sleep better.

To Severe Weather with Rain and Cold Temps

Forecasts are already tracking the next significant weather event, which is another Western Low.

On Friday night, it will force a cold front into the area, raising the risk of rain and severe weather once more.

Texas currently has a Level 2, equivalent to a slight risk of severe weather on Friday night, according to the National Weather Service, FOX7 reported.

Southern US

The eastern two-thirds of the country is expected to experience bad weather over the next few days due to an active and complex weather pattern.

A brief period of heavy rain and strong, progressing to severe, thunderstorms will move quickly from the west to the east through the region today into tonight due to a low-pressure system that is developing and moving through the southern tier states.

With the passage of upper-level energy and daytime heating over sea breeze boundaries over Florida, there may be more instances of severe thunderstorms with large hail today close to the east coast of the Florida Peninsula, according to the National Weather Service.

Today could see a few rounds of powerful to severe storms.

The first round will form in the middle to late this morning near the Florida Panhandle and will move through this afternoon into Alabama, Georgia, and then the Florida Big Bend.

In the meantime, during the early to mid-afternoon, a more structured line of storms will progress into southeast Alabama and the Florida Panhandle, and move eastward across the region into the evening hours.

As a result of the strong to severe storms today, damaging winds, tornadoes, hail, and significant rainfall are all potential hazards.

Rip Current Statement

Galveston Island, the Matagorda Islands, the Brazoria Islands, and the Bolivar Peninsula Counties are covered by the Rip Current Statement until this evening at 7 PM CDT.

Even the best swimmers can be carried away from shore and into deeper water by rip currents.

The rip currents are very dangerous, warned by The Weather Channel.

Fire Weather Watch

On Friday afternoon and evening, a Fire Weather Watch will be in effect for the lowlands of southwest and south-central New Mexico, the lower and mid elevations of the Gila Mountains, and the far west region of Texas.

On Friday, a passing storm system will move through eastern New Mexico, bringing with it windy to breezy conditions and lingering dry air.

Temperatures in the area will be seasonably warm.

Winds will be blowing from the north to the northwest at 20 to 30 mph, with gusts reaching 35 to 40 mph.

There will be a minimum relative humidity of 7% to 12%.

Behind the front, the weather will get better with lingering breezy winds, but relative humidity levels will start to rise again.

In the Gila Region, which is in fire weather zone 110, fuels continue to be more moist, causing elevated conditions.

Fire Weather Zones 055, 110, 111, and 112 are also affected. According to officials, any fires that start will probably spread quickly.

Officials warn that burning outside is not advised for the moment, the National Weather Service reported.
