In late December, Junrell Fuentes Revilla was riding his bike along the mountains close to Cebu in the Philippines when a dog began to run after him.

The dog kept barking and barking, desperate to get the attention of Revilla. The biker could notice that the dog was trying to say something to him, so he parked his bike and moved closer to the dog.

Heroic Dog Rescues Baby

The dog took Revilla into a waste-yard and toward a small squirming bundle on the floor. A staff member at Hope for strays, Gea Ybarita, said to The Dodo, "To the surprise of Revilla, he saw a baby covered in a brown towel. The spot where the baby was seen is isolated considering that it is located at the top of the mountain."

Revilla lifted up the baby and rushed the newborn to a nearby police station, where the Department of Social Welfare got involved. All thanks to the quick thinking of the dog, the newborn was seen just in time and was still in sound health.

Heroic Story of the Stray Dog

When the heroic story of the stray dog circulates to the local news, volunteers working with the rescue Hope for Strays hurried into the mountains with the hope to find the helpful dog.

Rather, they met a man who affirmed strongly that the dog, whose name is Blacky, is owned by him.
Ybarita said, "He led us the way to his house, and to our greatest surprise, the dog (Blacky) was there with three other dogs, we have verified that Blacky is not a stray dog at all."

The Hope for Strays rescue workers were happy that Blacky had a good home, but it was obvious the dog and his family are still in need of help. "[The owner of the dog] stated, 'No matter how hard life becomes, even though I don't have money, I still manage to feed all of my dogs and take very good care of them,'" Ybarita reported.

Blacky Changed His Owner's Life

Blacky and his family have gotten an overflow of support from the neighborhood, which includes donations of food, pet supplies, and many more. Even though Blacky may not know how much that means, he has changed the future for his owner, himself, and one very fortunate baby girl.

This loving dog named Hiro has always been a very good boy. But recently, Hiro showed yet again just how very good he really is. Last month, the dog and his owner, Viviana Davila, were chilling at the back of their yard in Puerto Rico when Hiro saw something on the ground beside the fence line. Hiro got up and approached to have a closer look at what it was.

He had seen something, and it was a bird in need of help and wanted Davilla to know about it.
Davilla told The Dodo, "I saw Hiro licking something on the ground. Hiro licked this thing and looked at me, he did it again and that gave me the sign that there was something happening over there and I got closer to Hiro."

Davilla saw a bird in need of help.  "I quickly looked for a towel and lifted her up, she was very helpless." Hiro had saved the bird's life with his quick action.
