Taking a trip to the farm, forest, or even staring at the night's sky? You can catch a glimpse of the weirdness of our planet. From the trees, animals, stars, rivers, to the water bodies? They are countless of ways nature can seem strange.

Below are 10 Strange But Awesome Facts About Nature

1. There Are More Trees On Earth Than Stars In The Galaxy

You may be surprised about this, but scientists estimate that there are between 200 - 400 billion stars in our galaxy. But that's not all, there are an estimated 1 trillion trees on earth surpassing the number of stars in the milky way that were thought to be infinite.

2. Evolutionary Coincidence: There Was A Time In History When 4 Human Species Co-existed

This revelation by a German scientist can be mind-boggling.

After the German had carefully studied hominin fossils found in Kenya, Chad, and carefully studying hominin fossils found in Kenya. The man claimed that at a point in time, four different human species coexisted at the same time about 3 million years ago.

3. Cows Kill More People Than Sharks

In interacting with animals, people have fallen victim to both cows and shark attacks. You may think since cows are domestic animals they are likely not to harm or even kill humans.

While sharks are fiercely dangerous, they kill an average of 5 people per year, but cows kill an average of 22 people per year. You may be surprised to hear that humans are more deadly to sharks than vice versa.

4. Quick Sands Are Only a Few Inches Deep and Unlikely To Swallow You

Quicksand sand's ability to swallow you whole is unlikely. Movies tend to make the scenario more dramatic than reality because a typical quicksand is just a few inches deep. Death may only occur only during a tidal basin.

5. All The Planets In The Milky Way Can Fit Between The Moon and Earth

The planet has a lot to offer in terms of fascinating details. All the planets in the milky way galaxy, if aligned properly can fit between the moon and earth.

There are some strong disagreement on this fact but they can all be linked to semantics.

7. Bacterias That Decomposed Trees Didn't Always Exist

History has it that the trees that existed over 300 million years ago do not resemble the ones in existence today. The trees were said to grow very tall with tiny stems that don't support them firmly on the ground.

When they eventually fall they don't decompose. Because there were no microbes to get them decomposed readily. So, when they fall, they pile up on each other and ultimately turn to coal.

8. Pineapples Take Two Years To Grow

Pineapples can grow to produce a yield in two ways. If you plant it from a sucker, it will take about 18 months to produce. While if you plant the top of the pineapple, it will take two and a half years to produce.

9. About a Million People Die Every Year From Mosquito Bites

Eventually, the victim who has been bitten by the mosquitoes is infected with the virus. We lose one child every half a minute to malaria.

10. Since The Discovery Of Pluto, It Is Yet To Make A Full Orbit Round The Sun

Pluto was discovered on February 18, 1930. it might surprise you that since its discovery, pluto has yet to complete one orbit around the sun.

The reason is that it is a planetary body that moves too slow on its orbit.  It takes pluto 248.09 years to make one orbit around the sun.  If this is the case, it means Pluto will make one complete orbit from 1930 on March 23, 2178.
