According to new research, there’s water everywhere on the dwarf planet Ceres. The latest observations show evidence that there is water which has become frozen ice on the surface as well as the shallow subsurface of the asteroid.
The world’s biggest diamonds are by far the most prized and most valuable of gemstones. Coincidentally, these rare and large diamonds also hold valuable scientific data that could reveal detailed information about the earth according to diamond geologist of the Gemological Institute of America, Even Smith.
NASA has already discovered a thousand exoplanets outside of the solar system. Surprisingly, some of these planets greatly resemble the water, ice, and desert-covered world shown in George Lucas’s’ latest film, “Rogue One: A Star Wars Story.”
On Friday, scientists at institutions in Australia and the United States had published a set of unprecedented ocean observations about the largest glacier in the one of the largest ice sheet in the world, the Totten glacier in East Antarctica. Their findings reveal one of the world’s greatest fears -- Totten is melting from below.
President-elect Donald Trump has long spoken up against climate change claiming it is nothing but a hoax. It appears that even Trump’s team members are following his lead as one of his advisers likened climate change with the theory that the Earth was flat.
Recent scientific studies have shown that the Earth is slowly dying due to the amount of pollution and the over population. However, a NASA scientist has sent out a warning claiming that the extinction of the earth is soon due - and despite efforts to stop it, it will come. The cause of Earth’s extinction is said to be a comet or asteroid strike.
The wireless communication system that connects astronauts aboard the International Space Station (ISS) to people on the ground is called the Space Network. New reports claim it is set to get an upgrade that will double data rates.
Since landing on Mars in 2012, NASA’s Curiosity Rover is slowly making its way along the Martian landscape, all while collecting rock samples. However, while on its way up Mount Sharp, the rover reportedly started to act weird. NASA engineers state that the rover is facing technical difficulties, particularly with its extendable arm that drills holes into Martian rock.
The Japan Aerospace Exploration Agency (JAXA) successfully launched a cargo ship bound for the International Space Station (ISS) last Friday. Along the unmanned cargo ship was the Kounotori 6, a space junk collector.
A huge alien planet recently discovered by scientists has powerful winds made of sparkling, gem-bright clouds. In addition to the vaporized jewels making up the clouds, the planet is said to have the highest temperatures. The study of the planet was made possible through NASA’s Kepler space telescope.
President-elect Donald Trump is planning to withdraw from the Paris Global Warming Agreement that was signed a year ago. Trump believes that “nobody really knows” if climate change is real. His statements have caused furor especially with French President Francois Holland.
Researchers at Cornell University have created a robot that has the gentle touch of a human. Their paper which was recently published in the journal Science Robotics, the researchers outlined their invention known as the “Gentle Bot,” a soft robot hand that is capable of human touch.
The mystery behind Greenland’s icy history, where it was ice-free for 280,000 years, could help in research for climate change survival. However, mapping the history of the ice growth and shrinkage proves to be a remarkably difficult task. While researchers are digging deeper into the past, the ice narrative is becoming even more tangled.
Former US Senator and famed NASA astronaut, John Glenn has died at the age of 95. In a report by The Columbus Dispatch, Glenn had been hospitalized at the Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center in Columbus. Reasons for his hospitalization were not disclosed.
NASA’s Cassini probe has successfully captured stunning images of Saturn. The images, however, are quite a doozy. The photos published on NASA’s official site show multiple angles of a weird hexagon-shaped storm that is swirling around the north pole of the planet.
