Recently, residents noticed the emergence of freezing rain, snow and temperature drops. In Chicago, the advisory showed that the potential snow could unfold on the weekend.

Residents can expect colder temperatures and travel hazards this late week. Meanwhile, the NWS Weather Prediction Center warned of a potential Thanksgiving Snowstorm this weekend, causing heavy snow and travel impacts.

A strong cold front is expected in the Northern Rockies, especially in Montana, Wyoming, Utah and Colorado.  

The snow outlook is good news for snow lovers. However, prolonged exposure to extreme cold is not recommended, especially for children, pets, people with medical conditions and older adults.

According to the latest forecast, the Arctic air will bring a chilly weather outlook this late week. Temperatures are expected to drop, with a high potential for snow.

The colder weather conditions will likely start Thursday in Bismarck, Rapid City, Scottsbluff and Denver.

Motorists can anticipate slickly travel and a foggy outlook this week in parts of the Midwest. Difficult driving conditions can occur on Interstates 25, 70, 76 and 80.

In addition, the colder and chance of snowfall could unload in the following areas this weekend:

  • Rapid City
  • Idaho Falls
  • Casper
  • Elko
  • Salt Lake City
  • Cedar City
  • Denver
  • Grand Junction
  • Omaha
  • Kansas City
  • Wichita
  • Albuquerque

In Kansas City, the advisory reminded residents of wintry weather this weekend, especially for people with Thanksgiving plans. The colder air is expected to arrive on Friday with potential freezing rain.

On the weekend, the rounds of snow could become noticeable in Detroit, Chicago, St. Louis, Indianapolis, Omaha and Toronto. Meanwhile, the arriving snow and rain in the Midwest will help with drought-affected areas in the region.

Thanksgiving Snow Storm: Where Will It Unload?

The NWS Weather Prediction Center warned of a potential Thanksgiving Snowstorm this weekend, causing heavy snow and travel impacts. A strong cold front is expected in the Northern Rockies, especially in Montana, Wyoming, Utah and Colorado.

The heaviest potential of snow could unload in Wyoming and Colorado this Friday. A possibility of six inches of snowfall could occur in the said areas.

Furthermore, Central Plains can anticipate light to moderate snow this week, including in Western and Central Kansas.
