Heavy Snowfall, Winter Storm Likely to Hit Northwest This Week; Warmer Temps to Unfold in South, Eastern US

The latest weather forecast warned of a developing and early-season winter storm in the Northern Rockies and Northern High Plains, bringing dangerous travel conditions and colder temperatures.

The arrival of an early winter storm will show the frequent colder temperatures in the US and a chance of more snow. The Pacific Northwest recently recorded rainy and chilly conditions.

Due to the developing winter storms, this week's weather dangers are widespread travel dangers, cold-related health concerns, localized power outages and damaging winds. The weather can also damage crops and homes' plumbing.

According to the NWS Weather Prediction Center, the significant winter storm could result in the first snowfall over the portions of the Northern Rockies and Northern High Plains.

On Tuesday, Northwestern US can likely feel the impact of the early season winter storm. It is expected to move eastward and the Northern Rockies. The western US can anticipate a more active weather pattern due to the storm systems.

In the early week, portions of the Northern Rockies and Cascades can anticipate heavy snowfall. There could be between 1 to 2 feet of snowfall accumulations in the region.

On Wednesday, the snowy outlook could reach portions of western and central Dakota. In Montana, a possible 12 to 18 inches of snowfall totals could unload.

In addition, the snow could stay this Thursday and will likely end on Friday. Motorists can expect travel dangers, including poor road visibility and snow-covered roads.

There is a potential blizzard-like conditions this week. According to the forecast, the colder outlook could unfold in the following areas:

• Seattle
• Portland
• Boise
• Medford
• San Francisco
• Las Vegas
• Cedar City
• Helena
• Casper
• Spokane
• Bismarck
• Regina
• Calgary

Warmer Temperatures to Unfold in South, Eastern US

In the Eastern and Southern US, residents can expect a warmer weather outlook. Northeastern US has the same weather outlook due to a strong high pressure in the region. Above-normal temperatures are possible, which could reach from 70s to 80s.

The warm weather can be ideal for homeowners who are not yet ready for the colder to freezing temperatures in the US.

On Wednesday, NWS reported that heavy rain could hit the Southern Plains with possible flash flooding.
