Recent reports showed that a dog in Florida is now recovering after a venomous snake bit him, also causing a leg infection.

In the latest report by Newsweek, the dog was identified as Kobe, three years old and was in the family's backyard when the incident happened.

Kobe was supposed to pee but returned to the house with an uncomfortable feeling.

Barbie Hernandez, Kobe's owner, explained that the dog returned crying and lifting its legs.

Meanwhile, the report noted that they could find water moccasins in their backyard, which, according to Florida Museum's article, are also known as moccasins or cottonmouth.

Florida Museum explained that water moccasins can reach 30 to 48 inches for an average adult.

The snake's presence can be found in parts of Florida or the county.

Furthermore, the report added that the bite of the said snakes could become dangerous to pets and humans.

While cottonmouth or water moccasins are not aggressive, homeowners and their pets must avoid immediate contact.

According to the Newsweek report, Kobe's family immediately rushed the dog to nearby vet clinics to save it from the venomous snake bite and for anti-venom.

The toll from the dog experience became more difficult after the family learned that a new complication emerged after the bite.

The report explained that Kobe had to be immediately brought to medical care with the hyperbatic chamber due to an infection in the dog's pelvic area.

Furthermore, the family had to deal with the piling cost of their dog's medical treatment and care, which cost them over $10,000.

A GoFundMe page was also launched to help them recover from the expensive bills.

On the other hand, the report added that the family and the dog became traumatized after the tragic incident.

Ultimately, the family explained the importance of medical pet insurance, especially what recently happened to them and the expensive cost of medical care.

The report added that families should take good care of their pets and children, especially if snakes are around.

Their population is also present in parts of the Florida Keys, Franklin counties and Gulf of Mexico.

Because the snakes can become unnoticed, it is best that homeowners should look for the possible emergence of cottonmouth snakes in their area.

Furthermore, Sea.org reported that snakes are known as nocturnal, preferring to look or hunt their prey at night.

The report added that the cottonmouth snakes are excellent swimmers and could bite in the water. The Cottonmouth snakes could like to feed on aquatic animals.

Meanwhile, cottonmouth snakes can also feed on animals' eggs.
