According to the latest weather forecast, residents and motorists in Chicago could expect light snow and rain this week. The forecast warned motorists to be extra cautious in driving due to slick and slippery roads.

The first week of January in portions of the United States experienced severe weather conditions. In West Coast and California, weather reports showed that they suffered from persistent bomb cyclones and atmospheric rivers, causing heavy rain and hurricane-force winds.

The weather conditions in parts of the country have been problematic. However, the weather forecast in Chicago would expect milder weather this week, with light snow and rain expected to unload until the weekend.

According to local reports in NBC5 Chicago, the weather forecast said the state experienced light snow this Thursday. On Friday, the forecast said that residents would expect drier weather with sunshine.

On the weekend, the forecast said that residents and motorists in Chicago could anticipate some light snow and rain, with dry weather conditions that could unfold.

Bringing an umbrella or raincoat jacket during this week would be recommendable due to potential rain that could unload.

Meanwhile, the forecast added that motorists should be mindful in driving, especially at night. Snow showers and rounds of rain could result in wet roads or reduced visibility.

According to the National Weather Service (NWS), the weather report explained that light snow in Chicago could result in slick roads or untreated roads.

NWS said that there could be chances of snow this Saturday and Sunday.

Meanwhile, the National Weather Service's recent weather advisory added that portions of the West Coast could expect hazardous winds, snow and rain. The forecast warned that flooding risks could emerge.

The heavy rain in California and West Coast resulted in widespread travel disruptions and power outages. The bomb cyclone and atmospheric river helped to unload more unusual rain, according to AccuWeather.

The forecast added that residents could expect intermittent snow this week in the Northeast and Midwest. Although residents felt a rapid weather warmup, the weather condition in the Northeast and Midwest could expect cold temperatures.

According to the weekend AccuWeather's outlook, the weather showed that portions of the United States would experience wintry weather.

  • Dry conditions would unfold in El Paso.
  • Rainy conditions would unload in Los Angeles, San Francisco, New York, Boston, Seattle, Kansas City, Memphis, Dallas and Houston.
  • Mild weather could occur in Jacksonville, Miami and Charlotte.
  • Seasonably cold weather would be noticeable in Billings, Denver and Minneapolis.
  • Chicago could expect a mixture of rain and snow.

Road safety

Road safety is the main concern when there is a storm. Wet roads and extremely difficult travel could unfold anytime. Weather forecasts advised motorists to be careful in driving, especially during a winter storm or the threat of severe weather conditions.

Keeping emergency kits inside your bag is important. It should include a battery-powered radio, flashlight, extra power bank, blankets, shover, bottled water and food pack.
