The United States has several spots popular among tourists due to their scenic beauty and historical or cultural significance. The US is home to several natural reserves and hosts a multitude of biodiversity exclusive to the country. Many places in the US have significant relevance, such as the Empire State Building, for being one of the tallest buildings in the world. Here are some states that every tourist should have on their checklist:

1. California

The golden state is one of the most diverse states in the United States and has various activities to offer. The coastal state, located on the west coast, provides a very balanced climate. California has everything from rural villages to glamorous metropolises to calm nature parks. You can visit its famous cities like Los Angeles or explore the enchanting Hollywood Hills. Plan a beach vacation in Malibu, or see the golden gate bridge in San Francisco.

Aside from the state's urban cities that lack nature, visit California's nine national parks, which are a must for nature lovers. You can hike through the foliage of Joshua tree national park or see Lake Tahoe in Yosemite national park. Every type of tourist has something to look forward to in California.

2. Colorado

Head northeast from California through the Rockies, and you arrive in mountainous Colorado. An increasingly multicultural state with picturesque natural beauty. The state has several snow-covered peaks that nature lovers can't get enough of. Take a dip in the hot Colorado Springs, or come to Aspen for a skiing adventure. Consider dropping by Denver, Colorado's capital, one of the best places to live in the States, and visit its famous art museum.

3. Wisconsin

Head into the industrial midwest, and you will find that Wisconsin has to offer more than just its suburbs. It is located in the Great Lakes region and is home to the largest freshwater lake in the world by surface area: Lake Superior. While Lake Superior is a popular tourist spot, Wisconsin also offers tourists a look into America outside of what the movies portray. So while in Wisconsin, take a walk around Milwaukee and explore what an average American family is like. Also, go to the Wisconsin State Fair and taste authentic midwestern cuisine!

4. Wyoming

The middle child in the States, Wyoming, often receives little attention. As the least populous state, most people do not know about Wyoming. You can go to rodeos, explore ranches, and have an authentic cowboy experience in Wyoming. The state is also famous for a meteor crater, which scientists believe is the one that killed dinosaurs. Don't forget to visit Yellowstone National Park, one of the country's oldest and most beautiful national parks

5. New York

No American travel list is complete without New York, the cultural capital on the east coast. Millions dream of the city's glamor, and many wish to visit the place. When you're here, don't forget to visit Times Square or the Empire State Building, and don't miss a stroll in biodiversity-rich Central Park if you're a nature lover.

Endnote

The United States has urban metropolises, bustling lights, and quiet nature parks with breathtaking views. The country can appeal to every tourist. Whether you visit the nature parks in the midwest or the coastal cities, the United States will leave you mesmerized. No longer will you need to travel overseas to have exotic vacations, when the United States is home to so many ecosystems and cultures.
