The latest weather update forecasted that portions of the South in the U.S would experience near-freezing temperatures, noting it could establish a record low.

Parts of Northwest in the country still feel the record-challenging warm weather.

Meanwhile, Midwest and Northeast began to experience the widespread cooldown and coldest air of the season that would result in snowflakes. 

Weather reports revealed that portions of the South would experience near-freezing temperatures this week.

Residents living in the areas with forecasted record-low temperatures should avoid prolonged cold exposure. 

In the recent weather forecast for October 17 (6:59 a.m PHT), the AccuWeather report said the South would also experience the coldest air of the season, adding that it could establish a new record low in the region.  

Residents in the father South should embrace the cold weather arriving earlier than expected.

According to AccuWeather's meteorologist, Joe Curtis explained that unseasonable cold air would head to the mid-South earlier this week, expecting a near to below freezing temperature on Tuesday and Wednesday nights.

While some residents could welcome the freezing to the coldest air temperature, the report noted that the freezing temperatures could affect the crops of farmers, explaining the sensitivity of crops to freezing temperatures.

AccuWeather suggested that farmers take precautionary measures to avoid the destruction of plants, indicating the importance of covering the plants or bringing them indoors.

The freezing temperature in the South would challenge the record lows in the region.

Meanwhile, the freezing potential would be possible in Kansas, St. Louis, Lexington, Indianapolis, and Des Moines starting Monday night.

Based on the report, the weather update said the following:

  • Alabama, Birmingham, Nashville, and Tennessee residents would feel the record-low to freezing weather starting Monday night to Thursday.
  • The report said the cold front would move southward, the Gulf coast, Florida Panhandle and Eastern Texas starting Tuesday.
  • Chilly weather would also be possible in Jackson, Little Rock, Nashville, and Montgomery. Meanwhile, cool temperatures would also unleash in Raleigh and New Orleans.
  • The report also said that parts of Mississippi, Baton Rouge, Jackson, and Louisiana would have a winter-like chill.

Some residents would feel different in the freezing temperature earlier this season. It is expected to affect plants and farmlands due to the cool weather.
