Did Chinese Scientists Try to Weaponize SARS Coronavirus 5 Years Ago?

Recently, the Australian newspaper quoted a Chinese book that is openly out for sale as a "leaked" complete document, in a humiliating article that smears China over the inception of COVID-19, twisting the content of the book to agree with its own intrigue theory that China took part in weaponizing the novel coronavirus some years prior to the pandemic.

The Genetic Bioweapon 

Chinese cybercitizens and experts criticized the newspaper for no longer having its professional ethics by drawing any signs possible to back its own political narrative. 
Quoting an alleged leaked document the US State Department procured, the Australian made claims that china had been searching whether it could use the coronavirus as a weapon five years prior to the COVD-19 pandemic, and even used the document as proof of China's interest in bioweapons. 

Yet, the Global Times discovered the leaked document the Australian mentioned was a book named The Unnatural Origin of SARS and New Species of Man-Made Viruses as Genetic Bioweapon. In 2015, Military doctor Xu Dezhong published the book, and is on sale on Amazon, though it is presently out of stock. The book proposes that the 2002 and 2004 SARS epidemic in China emerged through an abnormal way of genetic modification beginning abroad.

Conspiracy Theory

An academic book that was about bioterrorism and the likeliness of viruses being applied in warfare was described as a conspiracy theory by The Australian, which intentionally and malignantly has the intention to produce pretexts to smear China, a professor, and director of the Australian Studies Center at East China Normal University, Chen Hong, disclosed this to the Global Times on Sunday.

It is a loss of face for Australia's anti-China forces to support their own ideology against China with the basic professional journalistic ethics being at the receiving end, plotting to twist the actual meaning of the book, Chen said.

The Infected Cases

The book alleges with proof how abroad's biological weapon labs transferred the virus conveniently to civets or other mammals, and how the animals were taken into markets in southern China at that same time. The topic and core disagreement of the book is nothing similar to the report by the Australian making claims that China was weaponizing the SARS virus five years prior to the COVID-19 pandemic.

The book's author drew attention to the obvious facts that the infected cases at that time were concentrated in Hong Kong - the Chinese mainland, and the island of Taiwan. The remaining cases were concentrated in regions and countries where Chinese citizens and their descendants inhabited.

More cases revealed that amid 15 deaths out of the virus in Canada, 13 of them were from China. "Conspiracies cannot be counted out that terrorists abroad were producing contemporary genetic weapons in order to fight against China," Xu penned in the book.
