An Indianapolis woman died from necrotizing fasciitis or flesh-eating bacteria that she reportedly got from Florida. The family believes that inadequate and delayed medical care played a part in her death.
Florida Wildlife Commission and Mote Marine Laboratory officials have confirmed that red tide has hit the Tampa Bay area. Right after hitting Longboat Key, the red tide has afflicted Lido Key and Siesta Key beaches as well, and will reportedly last for two weeks to a few months.
According to new models, storm surges are expected to increase significantly in areas that aren't usually susceptible to tropical storms. Researchers call these cyclones Gray Swans, and believe that as climate change increase, so does the possibility of these potentially devastating storms.
