Hawaii's Kīlauea volcano reported an increase in activity, deformation and seismicity that occurred early on January 31, according to the latest report. However, the volcano is not expected to erupt.

Potential rockfalls and ground cracking can become noticeable due to the earthquake activity in Hawaii's Kīlauea Volcano.

Communities near the area should stay alert for volcano updates in Hawaii's Kīlauea Volcano. U.S. Geological Survey's Hawaii Volcano Observatory Daily Update explained that the volcano showed patterns of ground deformation and earthquakes.

Kilauea volcano. The latest report warned of an increase in activity, deformation and seismicity since January 31. However, the U.S. Geological Survey reported that the volcano is not erupting. Volcanic eruption is life-threatening and results in widespread damage to lives and properties. The main dangers are earthquakes, lava flow and rockfalls. Widespread fires are also likely, with dangerous hot gases and ashfall.

According to the latest report, the alert level of the volcano managed to reach orange. Experts and USGS are monitoring the developments of Hawaii's Kīlauea due to movement beneath the southwest surface near the Ko'ae fault zone.

Hawaii Volcano Observatory (HVO) has been evaluating the alert levels. People with travel plans should keep updated with the news reports if they plan to travel near the area.

An increase in earthquakes was detected in the volcano. About 70 locatable quakes emerged. However, a possible large tremble could impact nearby communities as the magma movement has continued to become a main concern.

In the southern portions of the volcano, HVO noted that about 25 to 30 small earthquakes every hour occurred.

In the middle and lower portions of Kīlauea's East Rift Zone, recent reports showed no unusual activity. However, the advisory warned of volcanic gases, including carbon dioxide and sulfur dioxide

Meanwhile, the Southwest Rift Zone and East Rift Zone had only a low seismicity.

According to reports, one major eruption happened in 2018 that caused widespread home displacement and evacuations.

Volcano Eruption Preparedness: How Can People Safe?

Volcanic eruption is life-threatening and results in widespread damage to lives and properties. The main dangers are earthquakes, lava flow and rockfalls. Widespread fires are also likely, with dangerous hot gases and ashfall.

Unhealthy air quality can also unfold, impacting older adults, children and people with medical conditions. Unnecessary travel should be avoided until it is safe.

As per Red Cross, people should prepare emergency plans for potential volcanic eruptions, although earthquakes and eruptions can become unpredictable.

Homeowners should stay updated with emergency alerts and information from local news or USGS, especially if your area is near a volcano. When there is a volcano warning, people should immediately evacuate to secure areas.

Furthermore, survival kits will become extremely helpful during evacuations. People should keep flashlights, medicine kits, radio, extra batteries and mobile phones.

For travelers, it is crucial to check for road conditions and volcano updates. Limiting outdoor activities near the region is essential to keep people safe from rockfalls and lava flows.
