In the southwestern US, the NWS Climate Prediction Center warned of an atmospheric river that could impact the Western US. Homeowners can anticipate heavy precipitation and high winds.

In Houston, residents can anticipate high temperatures that could reach from the upper 60s to the low 70s. Meanwhile, a chance of snow could unload in portions of the Central Appalachians and Great Lakes this week.

In the Southern US, the main dangers are renewed flooding, flash flood risk, mudslides and road hazards. Rain and thunderstorms are also possible in the midweek.

The southern US can expect relief from drought conditions due to rounds of heavy rain this week. However, flooding threats can emerge, especially in low-lying areas.

According to the latest forecast, localized flooding and severe thunderstorms can hit the following areas:

  • Wichita
  • Oklahoma City
  • Miami
  • Jacksonville
  • Montgomery
  • Atlanta
  • New Orleans
  • Houston
  • Little Rock
  • Wichita

In Little Rock, the recent advisory noted that mild conditions could unfold, including in parts of Arkansas. Temperatures can likely reach from upper 50s to lower 70s this week.

In the midweek, the dry pattern can spread in the following areas:

  • Wichita
  • Oklahoma City
  • Lubbock
  • Odessa
  • Dallas
  • Austin
  • San Antonio
  • Corpus Christi
