About 2.2 billion people globally have no access to clean drinking water, the United Nations discovered. In the latest report, researchers from Barcelona found ways to address environmental problems and water crisis, which the organization believes will only get worse in the coming years.

The water crisis is a pressing global concern. Pollution and climate change have caused widespread stress to oceans and water security. Extreme weather events have intensified drought and heatwaves, causing more concerns to bodies of water.

Improving water quality and supplies will significantly help poorer communities without access to clean water. With a growing population, there is an urgent need to increase water sources.

Furthermore, the World Economic Forum explained the increasing global freshwater demand by 2030. According to the report, an estimated increase of freshwater demand by 40%is expected.

The recent report warned of slow global progress in attaining water security, particularly for water-scarce areas.

A view of Lake Urmia suffering from drought. About 2.2 billion people globally have no access to clean drinking water, the UN discovered.

In an effort to solve the global water problems, Earth05 aims to employ AI technologies in finding ways and mitigate the impacts on water security. The Barcelona-based non-profit developed the project, and it was launched at the World Economic Forum in Switzerland.

The United Nations also reported that about 4.2 billion people have no access to clean sanitation. The new project with AI support can be extremely helpful in finding green solutions.

According to experts, Earth05 can unveil ways to integrate AI into water education and initiatives. It will provide new insights into the water consumption and climate events that affect water security, including detecting potential leakage.

In addition, the AI project will also analyze possible emergence of contaminations.

In the latest NWN report, EPA found the slow progress in the US in dealing with nitrogen and nutrient pollution. Excessive pollution can result in algal bloom and poor water quality, impacting human communities and wildlife.

For crops and irrigation systems, AI will provide sustainability reports. The project can also raise awareness about water-scarce countries or communities, calling for urgent actions to solve the problem. Meanwhile. experts also urged the resilience of crops against diseases and hotter temperatures.

For extreme weather events, the Earth05 will also predict the potential impacts or emergence. It will allow communities to develop mitigation and preparation plans, particularly for climate change effects.

Frequency of Drought And Climate Change

Climate change and extreme drought have been pressing environmental stressors that have impacted water security. Climate change can shape the weather events, causing less to lack of rainfall.

The dry vegetation and scorching heat can also bring deadly and raging wildfires, affecting crop supplies and forest health. The frequency of drought will be more difficult for farmers and cities.
