As thunderstorms and frost bring near-freezing lows this weekend to Cincinnati, the National Weather Service issues a Hazardous Weather Outlook for the area.

Hazardous Weather Outlook Day 1

On Friday, a cold front will enter the area, bringing with it below-average temperatures that will last for the majority of next week.

Several storms may develop and intensify this afternoon and early this evening as the front moves east, according to weather experts.

Through Thursday, the weather service has issued a hazardous weather outlook. On Friday and Saturday, a few thunderstorms with the potential to produce strong to severe wind gusts could form. Frost or freezing conditions will be present from Sunday morning through the evening and into Tuesday morning due to near-zero temperatures in the low to mid-30s.

 Areas in Southeast Indiana, North and Northeast Kentucky, Central, South Central, and Southwest Ohio are expected to fare the best, The Enquirer reports.

Cincinnati Weekend Weather

Before 2 PM, there is a chance of showers today, followed by a chance of thunderstorms and showers between 2 PM and 5 PM, and finally, showers are likely and a thunderstorm is possible after 5 PM. With a high near 72 and a wind direction of due west at 5 to 8 mph, it will be mainly cloudy.

Rain and potentially a thunderstorm could arrive before 2 AM, followed by showers, continuing the wet weather overnight. Lows will be in the mid-forties with a north wind of 6 to 11 mph. 90% of the time there is a chance of precipitation, and three-quarters to one inch of new rainfall is possible.

On Saturday, there is a chance of light showers before 8 AM and again after 3 PM. Mostly cloudy conditions are expected for Saturday, with a high near 59 and west winds 6 to 15 mph. 30% of precipitation is expected, and the new precipitation potential is less than a tenth of an inch.

After 4 AM on Saturday, there will be patchy frost. Although it will be mostly cloudy, then gradually clear up, with a low around 37 and a due west wind of 6 to 11 mph.

Patchy frost on Sunday morning before 8 AM On the whole, it will be sunny, with a high around 52 and a gentle 7 to 9 mph west wind. And after 2 am at nights, there will be patchy frost. Besides that, it will be partly cloudy with a low of 33, the National Weather Service reports.

Cincinnati Health and Weather

Cincinnati scores a 39 on the Air Quality Scale today as Nitrogen Dioxide scores a 39. Both particulate matter and fine particulate matter are scored at 31.

Allergens are also active today as tree pollen is at high levels. Grass pollen, dust, and dander are both at moderate levels.

In addition, the cold temperatures are boosting triggers for arthritis and asthma to high levels. Sinus pressure and common cold triggers are both at moderate levels. It is advised to top bundle up and breathe through the nose. Low-impact exercises will also keep the joints warm and moving.

Mosquito numbers are also up at high levels in Cincinnati today, while indoor and outdoor pest numbers are at very high levels. AccuWeather advises using repellants, wearing long sleeves, and changing outdoor light to yellow bug lights because this type of light is not so appealing to most bugs.
