37,000 Birds on Chicken Farm Slaughtered in Peru to Control Bird Flu Disease Outbreak

According to reports, about 37,000 birds were killed due to the emergence of bird flu and to control the outbreak that could infect other farms.

The report said the outbreak emerged on a Huacho, North of Lima farm. Immediately, local officials checked the infected farm with over 37,000 and controlled the potential spread of the bird flu outbreak.

According to the Centers for Disease (CDC), bird flu or avian flu is an infection among birds that could spread to domestic poultry farms and other birds. The disease can be transmitted in infected or contaminated spaces or with other birds.

The report added that the disease could rapidly spread, infecting other birds that could kill them. Wild birds carrying an infection or virus could infect domesticated birds, including chickens, turkeys, and ducks. Urgent actions from poultry farms are important to prevent the disease.

Because the bird flu outbreak affected many birds in Peru, a 90-day health emergency was declared to address and control avian influenza.

Bird Flu in Peru

According to the report, the outbreak in a farm in North Lima was immediately controlled. The infected birds were killed to prevent the outbreak.

The news report added that about 14,000 seabirds died from the bird flu outbreak, mostly pelicans. In addition, 700 birds were killed in the Lambayeque located in northern Peru.

1.8 million chickens in Nebraska due to Bird Flu

Nebraska recorded the emergence of a bird flu outbreak on a farm in northeast Nebraska. The recent report said that over 13 farms were infected. As a result, over 1.8 million chickens were set to slaughter to control the bird flu outbreak in the area.

The previous report explained that about 52.3 million birds were killed in 46 states due to the bird flu outbreak, the U.S. Department of Agriculture said.
