Digital India Programme is a foundation program that was launched by the Indian Government in July 2015 and the purpose of this program is to focus on digital development and provide the citizens of the country with such services and facilities that are connected to each other electronically and can also get the services provided by the government online. The services are accessible to everyone, especially the poor people so that they can avail the services provided by the government and try to improve their quality of life.

A country that is digitally empowered develops much faster and the resources & services are effectively and efficiently distributed among the general public. The Digital India Program aims to improve the growth of the Indian Economy, be it any sector, agriculture, education, finance, or any other sector.

Although this program is very effective, yet there lie a few challenges in the successful implementation of the Digital India Programme. These challenges include:

Lack of education:

Most of the people in India are still not qualified enough to use the latest technology and devices to avail these services. They are not even capable of using a simple smartphone with the main reason being lack of education and low literacy in the country.

Lack of required technology:

In India, the implementation of digitalization will take some time because the country lacks the basic infrastructure required to move digitally ahead. The infrastructure required to move this campaign ahead is still not available in most parts of the country, especially in the rural areas.

Financial Issues:

India is a developing country and the digital India program is a huge plan. For the implementation of such a plan, huge financial resources are required and India currently doesn't have that many resources to implant this idea nationwide. In the near future, financial assistance from other sources will definitely help in the implementation of this program.

Technical Issues:

Not only there are financial issues involved but there are also technical issues involved including bandwidth, firewalls, filters, antivirus software's, protection from hackers, buffering, etc are some of the technical issues that this program faces and the country has to take care of these technical issues for proper implementation of Digital India Program. The aim is to provide government services to the poor and downtrodden people digitally through online web portals such as BanglarBhumi, Meebhoomi, etc. so that services are accessible to everyone in an easy and advanced way.

Poor Attitude of Citizens:

For successful implementation of such a program, the effort is required from both the government and the general public, however, the attitude of the general public is not that satisfying, especially the older generation who find the old and traditional ways of doing things simpler, easier, and convenient. For proper implementation of such a program, the effort is required from both sides.

High Costs:

The costs required to buy electronic devices and internet services are not affordable for average Indian citizens and to make everything digital, the latest electronic devices & internet services are a must. Without these, it is impossible to implement this program. People in India don't have enough money to afford basic life necessities, so spending on electronic devices & internet services is clearly out of the picture right now.

Proper Training:

The personnel who will be working on this Digital India Program needs proper training, from how to use the online portals, to how to get everything done effectively and efficiently. The implementation of such programs requires proper training of the personnel to make sure that all the services are properly delivered to the citizens. Most people don't have much information about these things and need to be trained.

These are some of the challenges that the country faces in the proper implementation of the Digital India Program. It is a good initiative by the Indian Government that should be appreciated and the citizens should try their best to comply with this program.
