Skin aging is a natural process. As we grow older, we start to see thin visible lines along the walls of our skins, signifying an end to the youthful era. For some people, these dry lines or wrinkles are a result of the natural aging process while for some people, they are caused by external factors.

There's really nothing we can do to stop the natural aging process because these changes are largely controlled by our genes. Skin aging could also be brought about by environmental factors and lifestyle choices in which case, the effects can be made less visible if certain measures are taken.

For example, NAD regenerative therapy is often used in extreme cases to boost NAD levels during the aging process. This regenerative process involves substituting or recreating the human cells, tissues or organs and restoring them back to normalcy after damage. And since the skin is the largest organ in the body, this process is well suited to be used for anti-aging.

Other methods used in reducing skin aging are largely preventive. They are simple practices which if done on a daily basis, can prevent quick aging and give the skin back its vibrancy.

The following are tips to help you limit the chances of premature skin aging.

1. Treat your skin with care

The skin is tender and can easily get irritated when treated harshly. When the skin is subjected to an unfavorable condition, the cells are damaged and aging occurs faster. Therefore, you have to be extra careful when tending to your skin. Do not be extreme while trying to remove any form of pollution or makeup from your skin. Scrub and wash gently and do not apply harmful substances that can provide further irritation.

2. Avoid prolonged exposure to the sun

Sunlight is good for the body. The body produces Vitamin D when it is exposed to the sun and that helps in strengthening the bone. Sunlight also serves as a mood enhancer and increases energy levels. However, prolonged exposure to sunlight could lead to skin damage (in extreme cases, cancer) and also cause it to sag and age quickly. Therefore, you should always seek shade, cover up with clothing or apply sunscreen to keep it safe from harm.

3. Apply skin moisturizers

Dry skin is prone to wrinkles and premature aging. This is because it is unable to protect itself from the harsh conditions of the environment and cannot repair itself and is unable to generate new cells. Therefore, the easiest way to dampen the effect of dryness is through moisturization. Skin moisturizers are known to trap water in the skin and give it a more refreshing appearance. They also have the ability to gently calm and improve dry, itchy, and irritated skin.

4. Exercise regularly

Regular exercise is important for achieving healthy skin. In reality, it is one of the most potent anti-aging treatments because of its soothing impact on the skin. Exercise ensures the transportation of blood, oxygen and other nutrients to all parts of the body including the skin, thus keeping the skin cells nourished and revitalized. In addition to this, exercise produces sweat which is known to help the skin cool itself and the blood beneath it.

5. Eat a healthy diet

The impact of eating a healthy diet on the body can never be overemphasized.  Not only does a healthy diet improve general wellbeing, but its impact is also clearly visible on the skin. The old adage that "you are what you eat" is so true since healthy food improves skin conditions and limits the risk of getting skin diseases. If you're looking to get young-looking, glowing skin, you have to eat your way to it. Fruits and vegetables, foods rich in Vitamin C, fatty fish, low fat or fat-free dairy products, and beans are some skin-friendly foods. Also, you should drink lots of water to stay hydrated.

Also, stay away from food substances that will ruin your skin such as soda, salty snacks, fried foods, coffee, and candy, etc. This also includes substances that are generally harmful to health such as alcohol and cigarette.

Preventing the premature aging of the skin doesn't get any easier than this. The secret is simply in knowing your skin type and nurturing it with great care, providing everything it needs to blossom, and keeping it safe from all harmful conditions.
