According to Fox 4 KDFW News and CBS Texas reports, the Collin County Sheriff responded to a tip about dead animals in a home in Westminster. The landscaper reported the horrible conditions of animals in the area, especially dogs and horses.

The police noticed the foul odor from the remains of the dogs and animals living in poor health conditions.

Based on the reports, the authorities found the remains of 24 dogs and 12 horses. Some of the horses were partially and completely in the skeleton.

The report highlighted that the deaths of the animals could be possibly not recent because they are likely in advanced states of decomposition.

In CBS News, they managed to save other animals, including a snake, a cow, two horses and two dogs.

Meanwhile, the Collin County Sheriff's Office explained that they are committed to ensuring the animals' safety in the county.

The suspect is expected to face animal cruelty charges.

Dogs under the extreme heat

The record-breaking heat in the U.S. can put animals at risk. Dogs can become vulnerable when they are left unattended inside a hot car.

Recently, NWN and New York Post reported that 12 dogs died inside a hot truck after the airconditioned did not work. The dogs were supposed to be on the way to an adoption event to find new homes.

Leaving pets inside vehicles can become dangerous. Homeowners should regularly check them or at their side to avoid the said incident.

The  American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals explained that animals can suffer from increased heart rates when temperatures soar inside a hot car.

Furthermore, homeowners should limit outdoor activities or daily walks as heat exposure could lead to heat stress. Outdoor activities are not also advisable.

Homeowners should leave enough water for their animals and pets. Placing them in a cool environment can also become helpful to prevent the risk of heat-related health illnesses.
